Kalki On Grazia India: (Un)Covered

For their Nov issue, Grazia put it’s cover-girl Kalki in a Sixties, mod-inspired look. Love that Rajesh Pratap Singh dress. Bottega Veneta pumps and Tod’s bag completed her look.

TLC’s new show, ‘Oh My Gold’, a jewelry travelogue which chronicles traditional Indian
jewellery in five different cities (Jaipur-jadau, Hyderabad-pearls, Chennai-temple jewellery, Cochin-gold, Delhi-diamonds) has Lisa Ray sporting many Indian designers and some seriously opulent jewelry.

Styled by Shweta Sharma, during the span of the series Lisa is seen in Malini Ramani, Manish Arora, Namrata Joshipura, Rajesh Pratap Singh, Ashima and Leena, Gauri and Nainika, Sailex, Nachiket Barve, Abraham and Thakore, Varun Bahl, Rahul Mishra, Gaurav and Ritika and Vivek Karunakaran among others.

In the stills below, the jewelry just looks randomly added on… Would love to see it in the context of the show.

Of what little you see, have a favorite look?

More pics inside.

WLIFW A/W 2011: Day Two

Kavita Bhartia, WLIFW Autumn/Winter 2011

The vibe was certainly bohemian over at Kavita Bhartia. Season’s favorite color, burnt orange popped up on this runway as well among the more muted colors. Though not a fan of the prints, loved the embellished dresses.

Payal Jain, WLIFW Autumn/Winter 2011

Payal Jain referenced the five elements of nature (earth, water, fire, air and space) in her collection. Orange for fire, green for earth, blue for water… You get the drift!

am:pm By Ankur And Priyanka Modi, WLIFW Autumn/Winter 2011

Heavy in separates, the collection was among the better ones presented today. Pretty dresses and use of florals stood out… The orange dress and the super wide-legged trousers (palazzos!) were a favorite.

Ashima Leena, WLIFW Autumn/Winter 2011

Heavy in western-wear silhouettes, ombré effect, bandhani techniques and beaded embellishments made for some interesting pieces. Tribal influenced, the necklines were well-utilized. Some pieces did feel more Resort than Autumn, though the point perhaps is moot.

Charu Parasher, WLIFW Autumn/Winter 2011

Pink, orange and green broken up with some black was this collection’s color palette. We weren’t really taken with the use of tulle nor with the way the florals were employed.

Komal Sood, WLIFW Autumn/Winter 2011

For her debut collection, Komal Sood presented evening-wear heavy collection. A dash of Archana Kochchar, a smidgen of Swapnil Shinde and a teeny helping of inspiration from international runways… Is it just us, or do you too feel like you’ve seen all this before?

Dolly J, WLIFW Autumn/Winter 2011

A visual overload, and not really in the best way either. There’s so much going on and, none of it really feels cohesive…

—————————————-

And finally, on to Rajesh Pratap Singh.

This certainly was our favorite from day two. Hands-down. Beautifully structured clothes, impeccable work and so-sophisticated-and-quietly-charming. Love. Can’t wait to see these off-the-runway!

In Rajesh Pratap Singh

It was a Rajesh Pratap Singh top for Tisca which she paired with black pants and an orange Balenciaga clutch.

We love RPS. (Really, is there any one who doesn’t?) Having said that, we can’t help but be a tad sceptical on how this look really worked on Ms. Chopra, what with us not having seen any full length images of her actually facing the camera.

While we scout for more pictures, you like what you see?
