TLC’s new show, ‘Oh My Gold’, a jewelry travelogue which chronicles traditional Indian
jewellery in five different cities (Jaipur-jadau, Hyderabad-pearls, Chennai-temple jewellery, Cochin-gold, Delhi-diamonds) has Lisa Ray sporting many Indian designers and some seriously opulent jewelry.

Styled by Shweta Sharma, during the span of the series Lisa is seen in Malini Ramani, Manish Arora, Namrata Joshipura, Rajesh Pratap Singh, Ashima and Leena, Gauri and Nainika, Sailex, Nachiket Barve, Abraham and Thakore, Varun Bahl, Rahul Mishra, Gaurav and Ritika and Vivek Karunakaran among others.

In the stills below, the jewelry just looks randomly added on… Would love to see it in the context of the show.

Of what little you see, have a favorite look?

  1. Loved all the jewellary pieces (individually) – her look in the pearls looks as it should be (the typical dressed in pearl look) … loved her in Vivek Karunakaran’s – entire ensemble is looking off beat and cool. Looks so funny in Namrata’s outfit, is it the top itself or did the air balloon it, whatever!!!
    Loved manish arora’s top, sigh!!!

  2. A good concept for the series by Blue Mango films, but dressing her up in western clothes and making her wear ethnic jewellery seems like such a “western tourist trying on stuff and looking silly” type of look.
Most of our jewellery looks good with the corresponding ethnic wear. Otherwise it sticks out like a sore thumb.
Lisa looks lovely in the production stills.

And a complete no-no in dance circles – I cannot stand the white legging that Jyotsna (I think that’s the Bharatanatyam dancer) is wearing with the red-green saree, unless she changes for the show itself. Most of the dancers in practice sarees are so well co-ordinated.

  4. I love her in these outfits and I love Indian designers! Especially, Nachiket and Rahul Mishra.

I feel like the Indian flavour in their designs suits Indian faces way more than a lot of Western designers. Sadly, both are super expensive and often elusive

  5. I remember when Aishwarya Rai first came into the limelight, people were always confusing her with Lisa Ray. Probabily because of their light colored eyes. Ash was the Lisa ray look-alike or vice versa. But though Ash has changed over the years (for better or for worse), Lisa Ray has remained the same. She is so beautiful without being plasticky
