Poorna On Femina: (Un)Covered
In a cheery, yellow cut-out Raakesh Agarvwal dress was Poorna on the cover of Femina’s latest issue. Love that color on her skin-tone. Like the cover?

Love it! Totally works on her!
she looks like a goddess here. love.
I read this issue. She comes across as a sassy lady. Pity there are no good roles for strong 30 something women….
Well it would have looked good with her skin tone, if they had actually let us see her skin color. Hate this fair and lovely photoshopping.
Exactly what i was thinking. I dont see her skin tone at all because it is so white washed.
Exactly! They lightened her up a LOT. :/ but i love what they did with her hair
Well, when we see TVCs blatantly advertising “healthy fairness” , we can’ t really fault mags either, whose revenue is in large part from beauty products!
This is not her real complexion. Can the mags please stop assuming we have an allergy to dusky skin tones? :|
Agreed! How silly to make her look so – let me borrow from Russell Peters here – beige! And I would say the same if they had made a fair woman look absurd with too much tan. In applying the whitening/fading option guess they over did on the dress too, since the yellow on the model looks so much more deep/striking. I usually have a grouse with her makeup – that it makes her look dull instead of playing up her striking features. Regardless, I think it’s to Poorna’s credit that she still makes it work. And personality wise too she comes across as sensible and spirited – love that!
Love the dress, not felling teh hairr so much. A bit old-lady/ Margaret Thatcher-ish no?
Nothing out of the ordinary. The lights fall strangely on her face, making her look older.
Carol seems to rock it much much more!!! Love the colour and fall on her!!
Love the dress – hate the styling. She looks like she’s stepped out of Dynasty with that big 80s hair do. She’s a sassy lady and that’s just lost here.
She looks very jackie o. Im loving the look. Just read the article and she’s hilarious.
Kudos to femina for using a fabulous non mainstream actress like her and not going with another Sonam cover.
Her looks and interview are striking. She’s so real..unlike anyoany other star in this town. Wonder why Femina didn’t use the pictures from the inside for the cover.
Why did they have to bleach her to a whiteness that is almost never naturally found in Indians? (of course it must be photoshop). It doesn’t make her any more beautiful, it simply strengthens colorism. Sad.
