Elle celebrates its 250th issue this October with models that are already making quite the mark on the runway these days and all wearing pieces from Belgian designer Dries Van Noten‘s 100th show this past Spring.
Loving the new faces and the seventies vibe of the cover.
Komal Gajjar, Dipti Sharma, Anjali Lama, Suzanne Baker, and Ravyanshi Mehta
Props for – a) letting the clothes be the highlight and not pulling some gimmicky make up/ background tricks b) featuring models that too upcoming ones AND in their natural skin color c) featuring Anjali Lama…..way to go Elle! If I had to nitpick I’d say I wish they hadn’t used that particular yellow for the text…it jars with the muted shades of the clothes but still an awesome cover after a long time.
Love the juxtaposition of the patterns and colours and styles coming together. And just seeing actual models modelling clothes-such a breath of fresh air. Can’t help but contrast it with the stagnant and dated vogue 10 yr anniversary covers.
Can’t beat the 90’s models and their photo shoots.
Love the nonchalance and the quirkiness of it all. Anjali Lama ftw! Most are desis but all look non desi. :D
I don’t like the clothes but I appreciate the models, feels like fashion and weirdly that’s refreshing because fashion magazines turned into film glossies.
Read somewhere that Anna Wintour dislikes Van Noten, is it that’s why Elle went for it? Good call nonetheless, even though the pieces are not my taste.
