As for Jaya Prada, its a whole another story… Could that dupatta be a more neon’esque shade of lilac/mauve/purple? It blinds us. It really, really does.

full marks to her for staying true to her traditional Silks when whole World and its sisters gave in to the Chiffon and Georgette ‘modern’ Sari trend ( I am also one of them ).
But Now these traditional ones are Back ! and How !
also wanna say that i was Hugely impressed by Aishwarya’s choice of wearing that Gold Sari at her wedding .. It was so different from the Lehenga/fusion dress trend .

Rekha could have done so much more better..really. am a big fan of her and i think she is sorta losing her touch when it comes to make up.
P&P could you please do a series on gracefully aging actresses? Hema Malini, Rekha, Jayaprada, Sridevi, Sharmila Tagore….There are so many. you know, talk abt how they have transformed themselves through the years. I really think it will make a good read. Also, more of Rekha please. She attends so many events you can definitely bring in more of her here. Such a huge fan….

Agree with Annapurna about Ash wearing the saree for her wedding. So glad she didnt go with a lehnga. Very south indian, keeping with her family traditions.
Jayaprada is such a classical beauty, but spoils it all with an awkward sense of dressing, everytime.

Rekha has beautiful hair. But I hate her red lipstick and nails – tacky. And she needs to tone down the jewelry when wearing such bold colors – a bit too much.
Rekha needs to wash her face and get a makeup lesson. Her face painting technique… yeah I can only call it that… is so tired, so predictable and just plain awful.
Her stylist needs firing. Her stylist (yeah its Rekhs herself) knows only two looks… the same sari, same type of jewellery (looks the same anyway) or she piles on silly turbans of gold lame on her head (in photo shoots anyway). Blah and dated.

Yeah Kiran, same thoughts here. I think I read in one of her interviews that she does her own makeup even in the movies because others couldn’t do or something like that. So maybe she is still stuck with her 19 something year makeup routine because it worked, however I keep wishing she would change it sometimes and same goes for sari.

I think after acting in The Kama Sutra Rekha got kind of stuck in that role…..she played someone who trained courtesans and then she started behaving like she really WAS a courtesan. I know she did similar roles earlier too (U’Jaan and Muqaddar ka Sikander) but I only noticed the transformation after the Kamasutra. Her jewelry, hair (all on one side), mannerisms, makeup, the rich colors she wears, the way she kind of bows while saying namaste with folded hands….everything makes her look like one. Yes, she’s always worn Kanjeevarams but in her pics from the 80’s-early 90’s she’d sometimes wear her hair in a bun, or wear it down without bringing it to the front, and her sarees were ALWAYS gold. (Does anyone else remember?)

I ‘ve seen both rekha and jaya prada in real life . Trust me jaya prada is gorgeous , her skin is luminous and has a pretty nice style sense most times as well . Rekha is always OTT

Rekha has a larger collection of jewellery(all real) and wardrobe than very few can dream of owning. She is the only indian celeb who wears all her own jewellery and clothes in all her movie. Stop bashing her , noone can look as good as her at 50 plus , jaya is 12 years her junior. So please grow up. Rekha is atrue diva.
I really don’t seek novelty for novelty’s sake- Rekha’s look is perfect as far as I am concerned..It fits her. THough, I wish Jaya prada would lose weight. She’s still very pretty -without those extra pounds she’d be indiscernible from her “heroine” years…
i can only think of one other woman who can pull off rekha’s ensemble and that’s Shobana.She posseses true grace and poise
and fyi courtesans if u read indian history were trained in music and dance and have contributed greatly to indian culture and traditional arts
