In Faraz Manan
For Janhvi, it was a Faraz Manan sleeveless kurta and pants at the Lokmat Most Stylish Awards. Even with its intricate threadwork, somehow the beige and white outfit didn’t look luxurious and the color scheme just looked meh on her.
Not a fan. Were you?

Nothing personal, but I am already tired of these new crop of nepo kids in Bollywood. They all look like they have been manufactured in an assembly line. There is nothing organic or authentic about them. Everyone is styled the same way, just depends on the day of the week and the event in question.
I just posted a long paragraph on the Sara Ali Khan outfit comments. Yes, totally! None of them have any personal style. They all want to be SEEN. thats the only solitary style statement.
They are all ridiculously wealthy and privileged yet none of them are spotted in simple handloom or cotton weaves EVER. They dont have any personal mission. I cannot say about one of them ….. “Oh I want to see what xyz is wearing for this event”
Sadly I miss Rekha and Rakhee, Smita Patil, Moushmi Chatterjee saree styles from the 1970s and 1980s in movies and off duty looks in Filmfare and Stardust
The problem is they are constantly being styled. Which means someone (the stylist) goes scouting for free clothes to several designers and whatever they get are the options available to the stars. The only person who is part-exception to this is Sonam Kapoor. She does invest in her own clothes as well so you can see her personal style at times.
With all the money they make, it would be nice if they would also go shopping once in a while and purchase some nice things for themselves instead of constantly being dependant on what the stylist puts together for them. This is the reason even personal occasions like weddings have started looking ridiculous red carpet events with everyone just wearing the heaviest lehengas and loads of jewellery that doesn’t belong to them. I bet if they were wearing their own, they wouldn’t go looking like over-decorated Christmas trees everywhere.
They all do go shopping, but only buy Bottega Veneta and Louis Vuitton and Chanel and such, OVERSEAS :P
Instagram worthy shopping :) Or Balmain so they can wear it for their “airport looks”
Also few Indian designers actually stand out… 95% of the creations look like an imitation of some one else’s.
Karan asked Kajol if the earrings she was wearing on his show was hers and she said they were not. She said wasting money on expensive clothes was a waste as well. I give her props for her honestly but I guess that is why we rarely see anyone dressing themselves up nowadays. How about the gym looks? I hope stylists are not picking what leggings to pair with which sneakers and sports bras ….that would be pathetic.
On another note, I am sensing that alot of these stars (specially newcomers and outsiders) dont actually have that kind of moolah to go buy a bunch of loobs and flap bags and gucci sweatshirts with their own money… even the yesteryear actors/directors like boney kapoor etc… dont have much income to afford high end luxury at the level they are consuming and changing outfits 5 times a day right
Yesssssss exactly what I wanted to say. Prettycritic you nailed it. I understand for big events but getting stylists to style airport looks, personal functions like weddings of friends, and every public appearance is SO RIDICULOUS and such nouveau riche and I-just-discovered-high-fashion-and-designer-clothes” attitude; it really makes it hard to see ANY of their style yet somehow they are called
Fashionistas. I’m sorry but it also needs to be said that the work of most Bollywood stylists is very subpar and not at all creative. The look will either be just one statement deisgner piece like ashi studio or slapping together head to toe designer labels (where all the work is done for you and no vision, imagination or fashion sense is needed), heavily borrowing from previous looks of
Hollywood celebs, runway looks or high profile Hollywood socialites.
Bollywood is starting to make averse to even looking at designer labels , that’s how badly I am having designer-everything fatigue. Makes me want to go to stores and look for some low-key, unidentifiable, cool clothes.
This is actually the most relaxed, and natural I’ve seen her look – it may be that she’s comfortable with the dress or that she’s growing into her role.
she finally looks relaxed and comfortable in her outfit. but she truly bores me no mater what she’s wearing.
I like it. Better than those horridly boring lehangas
Totally agree! Those overdone Xmas tree lehnghas need a break!
I like the style and thread work. Pakistan in general is in a clutch of bare colours this year and this is no different!
It looks like she has 3 legs in this dress.
Lol. That is true.
The outfit, the pose are all meh. In the videos, you can see her adjusting the fit near the bust area. Most importantly, she looks bored to be there. I don’t understand why she gives those vibes so early in her career.
It’s a decent attempt because her hair looks somewhat modern for a change. I don’t love the bottom, it looks like she has 3 legs :P
The length and the fall of the outfit is a bit off … But nevertheless, it’s wayyy better than those OTT lehenga and shararas
The outfit by itself is nice but sadly Janhvi isn’t able to sell anything she wears. She makes everything seem dated.
The outfit..the hair ..the make-up… all are meh!
She is 20 something.. why is she trying to dress up like a 40 year old??
With everything at her disposal.. her style and fashion choices are a disappointment!
Take cues from Alia’s previous style – she used to dress up in a young and interesting way.
luxurious or not, this is a youthful look and different silhouette on her, so am liking it
I actually quite like this outfit on her. Its simple and different from the stuff that she favours generally. There is a freshness to this one.
What happened to her? Fashion wise she showed promise during her pre-stardom days. I remember her aesthetic being very young and fresh when she made those ocassional appearances with her mother.
She has always been instructed what to do what to wear … her Mom SriDevi have Awesome styling sense and I’m sure this girl will somehow finds her style soon
