In Chanel. Again.

A night after dazzling us in a pretty gown, Freida disappoints at the Elle Style Awards, this time wearing another Chanel creation.

As much as I love this woman, I cannot bring myself to like her in this ensemble. The shoes are little too overbearing and I am also not a big fan of the plastic sleeves.

Your thoughts?

P.S. She did win the award for ‘Best Actress’, so congratulations to Freida.

  1. Actually I do agree with Ashi…I love the hair do, the dress and the shoes……Though like P&P I don’t have inclination towards plastic sleeves but……she is carrying that plastic sleeves with panache!!

I love the over all look….

  2. Ugh…I’m not liking the look..makes her look stumpy? She won for best actress? How the heck? She barely had two lines in the movie…ugh! :/ It’s such a popularity contest.

  3. Oh noooo! It actually reminds of the gaon ki gori outfits that actresses used to wear, with plastic flowers stuck all over them! Actually saw a post on that on Bollywood Fugly, they had compared Karisma’s (in her “unplucked eyebrows” days) outfits in one of her movies to a similar one worn by her mother decades earlier! :P

  4. she looks a bit self concious in these pictures. the dress and shoes are beyond unimpressive. she was on a roll though, such a debacle was just waiting to happen. at least it wasn’t at the oscars.

  5. I actually think she looks lovely! The dress would’ve looked better wihout any sleeves but the fit compensates for that and the shoes aren’t half bad…better than the ugly gladiators that people have been indulging in lately!

  6. she suddenly looks older, meaning more her age, which is 24. I hate the shoes, they are too busy and giving me the creeps, the dress – i dont hate, but its doing NOTHING for her…

  7. im not likin it..compared to her previous looks its a bit let down..hate those shoes and plastic sleeves too..makeup is not that bad and hair is ok too

  8. i think it’s cool too. it might not have looked good on many others, but she pulls it off perfectly. frieda always wears the dress, the dress doesn’t wear her… thankfully

  9. Agree with P and P. Just because it is a chanel, it does not have to be beautiful. Instead of a haute couture au Paris, it has the Made in China look. Major faux pas, the shoes….This is a lucky gal, who has all the name brands muft mein, and an award to boot for a two-bit role. Sheesh! Face looks lovely though.

  10. what is that dress? looks like someone stuck those flowers at the last minute.. but her hair and makeup is just so fantastic.. shoes dont gel with the dress..

  12. She is pretty no doubt. But the spiders on top and cobwebs at the bottom dont work for me at all.

p.s. can we please get a break from her? this is beginning to look like a freida fan site.

  14. I love her haid, face, dress… the shoes on their own are lovely, but not with this dress… Given the strong neck and sleeves of this dress, maybe the shoes could have been more delicate? But my God, she looks lovely… Can anyone else see shades of Eva Longoria in her?

  15. WHAT?! really???
I LOVE LOVE LOVE it as well :D it’s a whole lot edgier than she usually looks, and I love her hair and makeup (her hair usually bothers me a bit)

  16. I wonder who was her competition … in the best actress category for her to actually win an award!!! Also it will be interesting to see what she does with all the fame and couture wardrobe ways once the slumdog fever dies out post the oscars.

  18. I don’t like this dress at all. Those plastic flowers or whatever they are. And I don’t like the shoes either even though she changed them. But her face and hair is spot on perfect.

  19. i like it! i think its different and i admire her for being daring enough to wear it.
when she saw the dress, im sure she knew she’d get mixed reactions as well. this dress is as unique as they come. and she still decided to wear it. i like her shoes with that dress too.
her make up is perfect too! she looks so pretty!

  20. Not a fan of everything Karl Lagerfeld creates, and this is one of them. Don’t get fooled just because it bears the name Chanel. It looks better on her than the model.

  21. Dear P&P,

It has happened before that my comments are waiting to be approved while i see the rest being published and then just plain disappearing. so when it happened again I enquired.

I dint imply for a moment that you had nothing better to do besides this blog.

  22. I think after several appearances in solid color sheath dresses the stylist wanted to give her something edgy. Too bad it didnt work but still points for trying.

  24. BEST ACTRESS? this has to be the worst joke ever….she doesnt deserve it…besides that…her face looks flawless but the dress is not up to the mark…the shoes are pretty cool…but i dnt think they go well with the dress

  25. Can’t stand the plasticky shoulder, so what if it is Chanel. Her face looks stunning, and the hair is very good.
She won the Elle Style award, which is a glamour award, but still, great going!!

  26. There seems to be a double standard for some people. If anyone else had worn such a fugly dress (with the help of a stylist no less), everyone would be out with the knives.

Freida is very stylish (with help) but anyone can go wrong. And this look is just godawful – the dress, the shoes and the hair do not gell. She does not do edgy well and should stick to what works for her. The makeup is well done though.

Yes Freida is well liked but let’s be honest when she makes a misstep.

  27. First I hate the dress, Second she doesn’t have shoulders broad enough to carry these dress( I mean this one and the previous one with the cape like thing)
These dresses look better on the models then on her

  28. Am i the only one who thinks this dress might be a cheap imitation!? The color on the model borders on dark grey more than frieda’s jet black, and the fabric looks different. Plus the detailin on the model’s hem is absent on Miss pinto!

  29. It is very simple why freida is lauded…she is the pretty face in the sea of pain called slumdog. she comes in the end and makes the pain go away. the guilty rich has to just ply her with couture to assuage their conscience. all the goodwill towards mumbai, all the slum squalor are all magically painted away with freida’s luxe looks. freida represents hope in a squalid world. to clean up world poverty, just rake in those freebies.

  30. Omigod..who does her hair and makeup? I can’t believe how flawless it is. The dress and shoes are both OTT.
Best actress??? I think the whole category was – Best Actress in a 2-bit role in an overhyped movie!

  31. my gosh, ANY MOVIE DIRECTOR hello I am here, if a movie and a twenty minute role can do this for you, god knows what will happen when I perform the lead role and brun the screen with my excellent acting skill..Farida I envy you, you were at the right place athe right time otherwise there is no shortages of excellent actress out there,,example MOI

  32. oh sorry I forgot to comment about the dress lol, the floor which reminds me of a hen we had in Kabul, has to go, hair and makeup is great, shoes are kinda nice too

  33. Best actress…for that 5 minute role?!! These people really need to see kajol or rani act then!
And whatever happened to slum kids who acted..They were outstanding!!
Anywho….Frieda does carry off the dress with panache and the shoes are a work of art :)

  34. Most Stunning? I’d give her that award anyday. If it weren’t for those sleeves (their transparency makes it look like she’s stuck glittery flowers to her arms), she does look rather charming. In fact, her appearance in that Oscar De la renta more than makes up for a couple of problems with this one.

BUT Best Actress?? Tell me it’s not true…

  35. That dress is absolutely tacky, almost as bad as the leopard-print lingerie, ugh. Her makeup is usually very well done but here, the fake eyelashes just seem to continue the spidery theme of the dress. Freida’s had a number of hits. This one’s a miss (Chanel or not).

  36. I LOVE her look here. In my book she can do no wrong. She’s my style icon ever since Deepika became so objectionable.
I think the shoes and the flowers work together to create a kind of edgy, black and white garden kinda thing. I like it :)

  37. black doesnt look good on her.. at least not this dress.. i know its chanel.. but i think it doesnt suit her skintone..

i dont mind the shoes.. but either it shud have been the shoes or the plastic and flowers.. both together make u squint eyed!

  38. Best Actress? For doing what exactly? She had like 30 minutes of work to do in the entire movie!!!

Dont get me wrong, I like her a lot. And this dress is so strange, what with the plastic and flowers and what not. Neck up, she looks great as always.

  39. ohhh! her hair and make up r ALWAYS so flawless! would love to know who does her hair and make up and who her stylist is. not liking the shoes or the dress. but she looks awesome neck up!

  40. The shoes are awful! And the plastic sleeves belong more at a Goa rave or something, but she’s refreshingly pretty so it’s not such a big deal.

  41. well i think she looks great..like the dress aswell but the plastics aint working for me either. the flower thingis should’ve been left on their own instead of using plastic to support them. but freida always looks great. and to people who are complainting that there’s too much of freida on this site…well what do u expect? slumdog is ONLY the best movie of the year and since this is a fashion website and freida is the only actress in that movie she would obviously be here since this is the awards season. i for one love seeing freida and am always waiting to see what she’s wearing so thanks to PnP…they are so uptodate with everything! and it’s not like this is just a freida fansite…hello! there are others actors and actresses here aswell!! so if you are over freida then don’t look at her pics…simple isnt it? it’s not like other actors and actresses are ignored so i dont know what the complaining is all about.
