‘Monk’ star Tony Shalhoub and wife Brooke Adams went a different route while the rest of the crowd stuck to formal suits and gowns.
Tony wore a black Bandhgala jacket while his wife chose a red lehenga. The lehenga was downright dowdy but then Brooke probably doesn’t even know she can do way better!

I came here just to point out Tony Shalhoub’s suit. The lengha is nothing much, but Mr. Shalhoub looks pretty good.
Least she tried. Something different.
I hope this isn’t taken the wrong way, but I’ve always felt that non-desi women look silly in desi attire. To me anyway, a big part about being fashionable is how comfortable one looks wearing any outfit.
And this lehenga is too blingey for my liking anyway.
Somehow Indian clothes don’t work on people who are not of South-East Asian descent.This looks ridiculous, like a costume or something!
Looks like she picked it up from some random desi store in Chicago or something. It doesnt look designer at all.

Good god! My biggest sartorial pet-peeve — westerners in Indian outfits! One question: why? It does look like they’re on their way to a costume ball…
the bandhgala looks great. and, i think, partly because of his middle eastern roots – he looks like he could easily be from pakistan or india…
Yes, plain old tacky lehenga, I still have to give some points for trying. Monk, oh monk, Tony Shaloub looks good, even with the awful beard.
I think regardless of how it looks, I am glad that at least this is not some picture of Shiva or Ganesha on a bikini.

aaahhh! its an atrocious outfit, wish Brooke Adams had done some Research on indian treditional outfits before finalizin on that….
even though her lengha is not very nice design, she looks lovely!! and he looks very good!!

why oh why can’t these non-desis go with good indian designers who will dress them elegantly rather than these tacky looking outfits!!! why oh why…..
I think it reeks of double standards to excuse her on the grounds that she doesnt know better. If we expect Indian celebrities to carry off western wear designed in the west and rip them apart when theychoose something ghastly, then the same standard shoudl apply here. If she wants to wear Indian then she has to make an effort to understand and carry off a well designed outfit. I dont think westerners look weird in Indian wear. Examples. Liz Hurley, Cherie blair, Jemima Khan. They have access to good designers and stylists, its only weird clothes make westerns look strange. Like those Rocky S sarees on that girl group, i forget the name of.
