Day 4: Gunjan And Rahul

Gunjan And Rahul’s collection, ‘Sirali’ was full of perforated, cut work accents used to give more texture and interest to the garments. The clothes were a blend of softened pastels and well chosen fabrics… There were easy day dresses and flowy evening ones. And even menswear had some really nice pieces like that blue kurta.

They got a little carried away with the whole cut-work thing at times, but it still was a decent collection.

Its been a while since I was bowled over.

Day 4: Rathore Jodhpur

Rathore Jodhpur’s collection is as commercial as it gets. With commercial, it basically means that everything is ready to wear, and so if a designer decides to do commercial, then he has to make sure that everything on the runway is extremely cleaned up and every piece has its act together! And thats precisely what Jodhpur did with his collection.

The cuts were constructed and designs reflected the Indo-Western silhouette. The collection might be perceived as overtly simple but I see it as a big hit with mainstream retailers!

Day 4: Zeal By Shubhra

Shubhra Chaudhary’s collection was called, ‘Misty Nuances’ for her label, Zeal and the clothes had that pre-washed, crushed-crinkled, and naturally softened look about them. The colors were mostly light and pale but some pieces had that faded effect. I especially like the fading effect on the plaid print outfits!

The collection in itself though felt extremely average.

Day 4: Varun Sardana

Varun Sardana’s, ‘The Grammar of Seeing’ had a very futuristic vibe. The colors were mostly pale and muted barring a pink here, a bit of yellow there! Powdered pale blue and metallic beige/gold dominated the color pallette. The collection was creative and interesting though tended to not hold its pace here and there…but still does get a shoutout for sheer imaginative vision and design!

Day 4: Deepika Govind

Deepika Govind’s collection was split into two main themes, one of ‘Soulscapes’ and one of, ‘Mindscapes’ and used only eco-friendly products.

There was a lot of color. And polka dots. And pieces in white were offset by some very geometrical patterns. But the collection in itself, I didn’t care for much.
