Sonam attended Day one of the IIFA 2009 festivities in a Spring 2008 Manish Arora dress which she paired with a B. Romanek envelope clutch (also seen on her in a black version here). She completed her look with a pair of pink pumps.
Now, this is a fun kitschy dress and I quite like it on Sonam, but the straightened hair is a put off as is her makeup. She probably wanted to offset the dress with simple hair but its Manish Arora! Run with the kitschy-ness!

actually I think she looks nice shoulder up, the neck design and her face/hair look nice, its the dress and shoes that are awful.
Ugh, is she wearing stockings with that? I hope it’s just the lighting of the picture, because that would be dreadful.
Hmm not a fan, I like the dress, but not her accesories!

seems more like japanese street fashion(?)..the pink shoes look nice with that dress..but the orange clutch makes the whole outfit look loud..dont like

this is actually the WORST way to wear a manish arora! such an adorable dress! how did some1 like sonam ruin the look? i am actually in shock! i would have neverrrr expected this from her.

but there is something terribly wrong with her arms either she stopped working out or she’s gained much weight.. \
with tomed arms and without stockings (if she is wearing one) this look would be completely fab IMO

Love love lovvvve this dress, my absolute favorite amongst Manish’s designs, have yet to see someone really working it. Maybe koel puri can carry it off? Simply because she has the personality for something like this, please not sonam she can stick to her regular looks that she copies off multiple Vogues.

I am not liking her outfit (sorry but it doesnt qualify to be called a dress) !! I would probably buy that kind of material to make cushion covers…..I think she was beginning to feel that she can carry of anything but I guess she is going into a downward spiral now!!…watch out Sonam!
It doesnt matter what sonam wears. Her real life pictures are such a dissapointments becasue she is barely qualifies for even ‘pretty’.
She shoudl stick to modelling and photoshoots – looks better with tons of make up to hide her racoonish eyes and lots of photoshoping.

It takes a lot to pull off a Manish Arora dress and Sonam fails. Her untoned arms and legs are distracting..
agree with pdabre, i’ve always thought the same..her arms are huge in proportion to her body, she needs to tone them… and I wish she pulled her hair back, with high-neck stuffs open hair don’t flatter
agree with “carol” so unflattering on sonam. and why arent people talking about all the photoshopping that makes her look great in photoshoots! i remember seeing a lot of flabby arms photoshopping comments about ash not so long ago. i think she look the cirque theme too literally, she actually looks ready to star in it:)

has she gained some weight? if not, i am shocked at the extent of photoshoppin that goes onto her mag covers and shoots looking at the size of her arms here. in the lower picture, her head looks really dispropotionate with the rest of her body. she needs some arm toning like NOW.

The dress is fab, but not on her. I can understand why she chose the dress, as it is so much fun, but it doesn’t suit her body type in the 2nd pic.
The girl needs to get some rest, so the dark circles can make an exit. I also think she should learn to take it easy sometimes. I was never a big fan of hers for precisely one reason – she tries too hard, almost always. But cant blame her, she is playing along with the media given image of fashionista.
The dress is to die for. I am big fan of colors and this is right up my alley !

For once it feels Sonam cannot carry this dress well…which is quite out of the ordinary.
I LOVE the dress (and the shoes, and the clutch) and I LOVE Sonam, but the dress is not really the most flattering on her. I agree with the comments above; if you want to wear such an odd shillouette, you need to be either 1.) very toned or 2.) very skinny.
And is it just me, or is Ms. Kapoor not radiating the natural radiance (reduntant, I know) that seems to help her pull off whatever she is wearing. Where is that confidence?! She looks so…normal without it.

Yes, those arms look very disproportionate with the rest of Sonam’s body and hence take away from making her look good in that dress. She needs to do something about those arms pronto!

Like Sonam’s choice of accesories, she looks strictly ok in the pics tho, she should wear sumthin that suits her arms more, and I agree the hair should’ve been diff, it just fizzles out
Like i mentioned in earlier comments.She is not as smart and good looking as she looks in magzine covers shoots, its just the international stylist and makeup that works.

You know, looking at all these pics, I’ve realised why they’ve kept the red carpet all these years.The green on this IIFA carpet is casting a sickly green hue on all the clothes, and everyone’s legs look like they’re clad in ugly grey tights. Bad idea- go back to the red! At least it’ll cast a warm glow and not wash people out like this.
the dress is intersting, prefer the shoes worn by the model, these photos are all taken from the top, not very flattering. ONLY she can carry an OTT dress like this. Good to finally see a fashion icon in bollywood. I must see Delhi 6.

Manish Arora outfits are so quirky I love it! I dont agree with u all…I like the simple hair – it would have been too much otherwise and made her look like a clown… She looks young and hip and festive!
The dress is not flattering in the slightest, her arms have never been her strong point – the striahg hair makes her look like she has a very small head perched upon a rather large body (relax- that’s how it looks – not how she actually is).
Even on the model it makes her look pear shaped – so if it doing that for the model it is making lovely Sonam more than a little hip heavy.

ITS NOT STOCKING Aishwarya’s legs looked dark too in one of her pics, its just the shadow of their skirts on their legs and I guess it was dark outside so their legs looks navy, as for dress, Did she recently went to Africa, I am getting a tribal vibe here she is just missing fire and a tribal dance to compelter her assamble
