LFW Autumn 2009: Sabyasachi

Comment image 32

While his last collection had a heavy dose of velvet, Sabyasachi’s new collection was a mixture of ethnic prints, patchwork and net in dark earthy colors. While most of his silhouettes remained the same, the new prints, material and way it all came together made all the difference! Go on, call us biased but what can we say, we like!!

  2. S, i agree with you about carol, also she always looks like she is in great pain (but not off the runway)
anyway, this looks nice, but then again i don’t like velvet so i wasn’t a big fan of the velvety stuff in the previous collection

  3. I like the colours he uses, but overall I could never quite get to liking Sabya’s designs. They all seem to follow a standard formula: shapeless outfits in deep autumny colours and clashing prints. That’s it.

  4. like the colour combo, and some of the pieces are okay on their own, but together every outfit looks a mess to me.
Not a big Sabysachi fan, only like a few items of his in the past.

  5. i love him as usual! and i am glad to see that he used shades of blue in his ensemble (first row, left pic). he hardly showcased his clothes in blue…so i’m glad. but have to say- theres nothing “new” or “different” except for the see-through skirts.

  6. I like that Sabyasachi isn’t so flashy, actually. He makes and outfit look richly colored and textured without decadent colors are jewels and the like. I do admit, though, that I would love to see if he could do the same with some lighter colors. Still, thhese pieces on the runway are amazing; can’t take anything away from that!

  7. call ME biased! I don’t care- he’s AMAZING
(lol, my mom was recently telling me that I haven’t seen enough sarees to actually be able to tell the good ones apart from the rest and I was like “I’VE SEEN THE BEST IN THE WORLD”)
    undoubtedly, he is
as for the color scheme- it’s a fall collection, it makes sense to me :/

  8. Am i the only one who doesnt get him. I dont like his work. Year after year they are the same, and earth tone and stuff is fine, but i like my clothes to smile and shine.

  9. Wow…l love his creativity. He creates beauty out of the most mismatched things. I love the transparent skirt and beautiful tights. I wouldn’t get his designs on the runway before, but now I totally see that the runway costumes are for high drama, whereas the ones he sells are the much toned down version. Love his talent! Many designers (including MM) are trying to copy is style of mixing various textures, but very few are being successful.
