At the races, Rhea Kapoor channels a bit of Chanel not by donning black and white but by wearing multi-stranded pearls with a red dress and a black patent frame bag. Red Chanel sandals complete her look. For a day event, the red dress with the pearls is a bit overwhelming to me but it’s a cute look. You like?

Those are love-’em-or-hate-’em shoes. I hate ’em.
I agree… I surprised P&P have spared the many flaws in this ensemble… I mean its not just the shoes… the bag, the colour of the dress.. the whole look just doesn’t work… looks like something is amiss… I can’t seem to put a finger on it but usually P&P pick up on stuff like this.. perhaps they decided to go easy on the girl.. I wonder why though..
Don’t like the dress.The dress seems to be a throwback to an earlier time.The sandals seem a case of match much.Sure the look spells money but not much else.
I can’t put my finger on i.. but this look ain’t working for me. Maybe its the sunglasses(too round for her face), the bag, the fit of the dress also does not seem right.. something is missing.
is this sonams sister? she looks fab. a little more of a sophisticated look- nice
Granted she looks like she is having a lot of fun with the look, but this is a bit much for a day look.

Eeeek no! I know it should all be right, but this look is so wrong! Forget about the pearls, they are okay but I can’t get past those shades and her weirdly parted hair! She should
a) cut her hair
b) dress more age appropriate (she is not 70)
c) when she does turn 70, still not wear that dress with those pearls to the races!

I want to make love to that dress. It’s so beautiful.
However, again- the rest of the look sort of falls flat. The Chanel look with the Dior silhouette is a bit much.

But it’s a vintage dress, the clothes are supposed to fit that way. Think of the kind of undergarments they had to wear to get the right shape!

LOL I think that was the way it was styled for the runway, it’s not actually a bag and a shoe attached together. Although you could always buy both and put them together like that.
even without the bag they are pretty tacky
Everything else the same, I think it would’ve worked if the dress was white and shorter.

dislike everything except for the hair. ah i love long, wavy hair that has volume.
at the risk of sounding snobbish, the whole outfit looks cheap- the patent bag, the red dress with the bow (i have something against red dresses, they’re just so IN YOUR FACE), the horrendous chanel shoes (i dislike chanel’s clothes and shoes- i only love the bags, swoooon).
am on the fence for the pearls- they’re chic, but i just dislike the look so much.
Exactly. The entire look screams wannabe fashionable but rich and clueless.
You can get the same long wavy hair as well as with extensions,
the volume of her hair at the bottom is unnatural, real hair tapers down beautifully, whereas with extensions the ends of the hair look unnaturally full, the clear indicator of extensions

not really…the dress is cute but a little tight on her, its cutting into her armpits & squishing her boobs.
Also, there are too many things going on – big glasses, multi strands, statement bag, statement shoes, color of dress… needs editing….after all Coco Chanel did say,” before you step out, look in the mirror and remove one accessory”

The bag was just a way of presenting the small wallet on the runway. In reality it is not attached to the shoe. :)
Love it ! You guys should post a picture of elle editor in chief, nonita kalra . She wore a really sophisticated silhouette for the event..just google elle india race and click on the link by times of india :)
this look is NOT for her,her style should be edgier,she looks older than her years.

Well according to Rhea (via twitter) the dress is £20 from a Vintage Store in Carnaby Street, $20 shades from Soho..so looks like the only designer piece she has on are the bag (Valentino) and Chanel Shoes!

Just because it’s from a vintage store doesn’t mean it’s not designer – it just means it’s not off the current runways. Julia Roberts wore a vintage Valentino gown when she won her Oscar for Erin Brockovich. Often, fabulous vintage designer pieces can be found in thrift stores and consignment shops, and it’s great fun to go hunting for them! :)
The shoes are ugly, the pearls are unnecessary and it really is a case of ‘match-mutch’. I mean, this may as well have been Divya Khosla Kumar doing what she does best!

I love the entire look – the elegant, old-school dress-and-pearls combo with the kitsch shoes win major brownie points for Rhea in my book.
I go by the rule that the dress should at least appeal to you without knowing price/brand, etc. and this one doesn’t so NO for me.
