In Sabyasachi
Promotions for Hichki on Tuesday saw Ms. Mukerji in a black Sabyasachi gharara, one that she looked lovely in. Agree?

Gharara it is! Get your facts right pls!
Thanks for educating us! :) Would you also like to let the brand know as well. They have it down as sharara as well.
Already, just wish it get noticed like it did here! N yes, a blunder not expected from a designer of big repute! Distorting a name of an outfit which has a royal past is something not acceptable! Not bloggers’ fault though if designer himself has distorted the name! Sad!
How do you differentiate between a gharara and sharara? I have a similar pants with the flared bottoms but a slightly longer kurta(just long enough to cover the joint). Would that be a gharara?
Pants with joint at thigh/knee region are ghararas, irrespective of top’s length. Usually, gharara are worn with kurta which is long but doesn’t cover the joint, reason being to showcase dramatic flare which begins below the joint as worn here by Rani. Gharara was the outfit of royal muslim women during Nawabi era. The dress was later adopted by common women of Awadh region n its popukarity spread to Pakistan too. It is still a popular choice by muslim women during weddings in UP. Shararas are divided flared pants without joint, eg. the one worn by Kareena in bole chooriya song. Lancha is an umbrella cut skirt worn with long choli, the one worn by Madhuri in song dulhe ki saaliyon. Hope this helps!
most folks dont know the garara, sharara, laacha.. forget telling the difference!
Thank You Moni Pal for explaining it so well !!!!
The song reference was helpful too :)
Also, could you please explain how to differentiate between Laacha, Lehenga and Ghagra skirts ?
I think someone let the brand know as well and they changed it without being a dick about it, of course.
True!
Well… you could have been more polite.
Barring the dupatta it’s a nice outfit
She looks good!
I think that she should always leave her hair open unless she decides to keep her hair very short.
oh I strongly agree with you P&P, she hasn’t looked this good since so long..love the dress and on her :)
any idea about the earrings please ?
She looks lovely.
She looks absolutely gorgeous! She looks like a cute desi doll.
Its a lovely look save for the huge border on a short shirt. Its throwing off proportions abit.
There was a time before Aishwarya, Deepika, Sreedevi and even Vidhya Balan became Sabya fans, a time when Rani was the original muse. She wore his sarees with love and confidence when he was not this well known. Sweet reminder of that time…
so true! she’s the original unofficial muse who made it known..n looked regal in most of his pieces.
I’m surprised this is a sabya, on first glance the proportions look so off because of how short the top is and the huge border. Rani looks great tho
Rani looks soooo good here. But I’m so disappointed that this outfit is a Sabya design :( Oh-no!
The border of the kurta throw the proportions off. Rani looks beautiful!
