Considering they hail from Kolkata, it was no surprise to see the Sen sisters walk the ramp at the first ever Kolkata Fashion Week. They walked for the show ‘Story of Weaves’ that presented different weaves by local weavers.
P.S. We are as puzzled as you are as to why Riya is wearing (what looks like) a swimming costume underneath! :P

i absolutely LOVE Raima’s saree..i think she’s one understated actress who hasn’t gotten her due..and she’s so classically beautiful too! I am definitely going to get some traditional sarees the next time i’m in Kolkata

Totally! Raima ( or who ever draped this on her), please teach the clueless saree abusers like PC, Celina , Divya dutta and all , that this is the way to wear a saree. Does it take away from being attractive and wow- absolutely not. So soothing to the eyes after all the bikini blouses and uni/twin boob shows!
I really like Raima’s saree–especially the geometric border.
Wish I didn’t see the fold-creases tho’…how hard could it be to iron out the folds before walking the ramp?

That is a straight up baithing suit under that sari..well i guess they were trying something different (for the traditional indian woman at the beach?? – lol) …they both look gorgeous however

i don’t know, the embroidery looks a bit too intricate for kantha..incidently, my mom is bringing me a kantha saree from India tomorrow (can’t wait to see both her and the saree!)..and on 2nd glance i saw some of the other models in their sarees and the one with the model wearing it like a dress with the belt is an interesting concept on an otherwise not so interesting saree..i wish riya had worn the saree with a different drape and blouse..you can be original without wearing a bathing suit…i don’t get why she needs to make everything look ‘super sexy’..i think her sister succeeds in looking sexy even in her simplicity…
Raima is simply stunning. The sari is gorgeous, her hair and makeup are impeccable, and I especially love the modern bangles paired with the traditional necklace.
Her sister, on the other hand, is another matter. I love her makeup; she looks like the quintessential Bengali woman.However, Riya is already a bit bottom-heavy to begin with, and that style of draping simply emphasizes that. And what is up with the bathing suit underneath!?!

Why o why did they put ria in a sari like that? It looks like they just wrapped it around her, and it’s not showing the detail of the sari! Also, like someone said before, by wearing a sari like that, it just puts more emphasis on her mid section!
Also, what is up with that bathing suit as a blouse thing? It doesn’t even match with the sari…ufff they made her look bad :(

I love both saris so much – these are the kind of saris I wish Bollywood actresses wore more often. Raima looks tres shic – very well put together.

I love raima and her sari – she looks gorg n elegant,I really like her as an actress too – i think she;s pretty underrated as 1 – loved her in choker bali where she actually acted much better than ash(am an ash fan for her looks not her acting much), loved her in honeymoon travels too a very natural actress – love riya here too her face is gorg!

My guess is, it is a Tussar ( definitely ) with Kantha on it. Although Kantha work typically comes in beige/cream shades with circular embroidery on it, you get lot of designer Kanthas these days , that too on coloured tussars.

To be quite honest, both look kinda stupid too me. There is lack of taste and elegance and Riya can do much much better with a designer like me :)
raima’s saree is definitely not kantha — the underside would not be as heavy in a kantha — but a weave.

Riya looks like a bundle of left over bits of clothes in tht saree. and whatever on earth was she thinking when wearing that cheap lycra thingy underneath that saree and why has she draped that huuuuge piece of fabric around her waist ?? makes her look 4 months preggy !!! ewwww………
raima looks OK. we have seen better traditional sarees in Kolkata. too much is being made out of her look. she looks OK yeah but nothing mirror cracking !
