An Almost Ditto

Supermodel Naomi Campbell also wore a red Sabyasachi sari while attending a press conference right after the ‘Mai Mumbai’ show with a Kundan necklace made by Maharani jewels. While, her sari was more bridal in tone than Kalyani’s, what we wouldn’t give to have both of them! ;)

But, if we really really had to choose one, it would be Kalyani’s beige. What about you?

P.S. If you are wondering why Naomi’s two saris didn’t make the ebay listing, its because she already snagged it for herself! Boo hoo!

  1. I too prefer the beige
as beautiful as the red is, it think it’s just too much with the necklace and all
about her buying her own sarees -_-…can’t say I’m suprised

  2. with naomi’s bridal red, i would have liked if she wore a black/off-white brocade blouse (like sabya dreses up his models on the ramp). that would have made the red stand out and would have not looked this busy.

  3. OMG, LOVE the Kalyani Chawla saree…. I swear my hubby bought the same saree in a diff color on his last trip to India in 2007!! Same material, same motifs, and same border!!
He has been trained well, hasnt he? :-)

  4. I agree Prat. She reminds me of Nandita Das also. And I think the beige is much nicer then the red. Would like to see a full length pic but not really liking what i see of the red.

I like both of them, both are equally beautiful. Naomi sure does look good in a sari!

  7. now the beige saree is clearly sabyasachi at his best! i know we’re comparing with the one naomi is wearing but i have to say look at this saree and the saree ash wore at the awards there is a clear winner, and this looks like a sabya the other looked like sabya drunk on manish! lol cuz of all the glitter….

  8. I thought it was Nandita at first glance! Naomi probably bought the sari’s to support the cause, not because she was the one who wore them, hopefully :) I loveeee Naomi’s necklace omg.. it’s soo nice!!!!

  9. Naomi’s small tikka spoils the look. Her look could have been better with paying attention to details.

    Kalyani’s is better put together.

  10. Well I hope she bought it and not kept it.. coz the show was for charity wasn’t it? The design on the border is similar so I guess its a Sabyasachi. The red though looks a bit too festive.. but is likable. I like Kalyani’s better though… Naomi’s jewleery hits me too hard.. its big, chunky.. shiny and put against that deep red

  12. I love the beige on Kalyani – she looks so delicately beautiful. I love the little bindi she hsa worn – it adds to the Indianness.

The red is too “red” for Naomi. The saree is nice as it is, but not on Naomi. The jewelley is way too heavy.

P & P – please feature South Indian actresses and celebrities also. Trisha, Jyotika, Meera Jasmine, Bhavna etc- we will get to see some lovely Kancheevarams.

  13. Kalayani has great style, love her sari.I do not care for Naomi’s sari.A red sari with a border needs a simple blouse, do not care for the puffy sleeves with the border. Naomi’s look is OTT

  14. @mmm & @LushgreenApple,
The one my hubby bought which is like the pic in the left but a diff color, costed Rs.46K in 2007. Hope this helps give you a ball park figure.

  15. Kalyani’s sari is a classic piece, I love the champage color with the traditional border. Naomi’s saree is a bit too much, probably because she paired it with a six line Kundan set; however, I too would kill for that necklace :)
