Dinner In Delhi
During the U.S. President and First Lady’s India trip, all eyes have been on Michelle hoping and wondering when she will don something Indian.
Guess the wait is over because it looks like it was Naeem Khan again at the official dinner hosted by the Prime Minister and his wife. While Michelle looked statuesque, Gursharan Kaur and Sonia Gandhi were equally lovely in their traditional woven saris.
You can catch all of Mrs Obama’s outfits Mrs-O.org, a blog that follows her fashion daily.
Update: Michelle was wearing Dries Van Noten.

They all looked lovely, but Sonia looks especially dignified and beautiful.
My exact opinion. Agree with u completely.
Yeahh.. I agree..
Sonia Gandhi looks great.
I wish our desi actresses would learn how to drape a sari from Sonia Gandhi and Gursharan Kaur.
wow what a comparison! :)
how can an actress drape the the saree in style of a polictial leader? They belong to completely different circles, actress needs to look hot, sonia gandhi and gursharan kaur dont!
They all wear and follow the styles as per their life styles!
so very well said ! totally agree…why would actresses want to look behenji types??
never saw sonia with hair dye before..michelle sure made her conscious about looks !! love the saree color
Of course I love Barack so nothing to state there – looks his usual charming self. But how adorable do Dr. and Mrs. Singh look? Such class and elegance – so proud to see them serve as hosts on behalf of our country. Sonia’s sari is very classy looking as well.
I agree with like everything you just said. 100% I’ll just steal that as my comment :P
Mrs. Singh and Sonia’s Sari’s are so classy and elegant. Those anyday over the $$$ designer clothes. I am not a fan of Mrs.Obama is wearing and those MM-isqe tassles in the front are not helping either.
Actually that tassel thingy on Mrs Omaba’s dress (or is it a necklace?) looks exactly like the chinese knot hanging i have in my car.
yes…chinese knot hang is appropriate…i rarely liked Michelle Obama’s clothes.
ditto. Sonia Gandhi and Ms. Kaur have a dignified presence there. Nice.
oh my GOD! i LOVE the saris worn by kaur and gandhi. score!
any idea what kind of silk saris they are wearing? as in, which part of india do these saris come from? south india?
Mrs K’s saree is a Bomkai from Orissa.
and I think Mrs G’s is a Kanjeevaram
THANK YOU JASMINE :) big help :)
Mrs obama’s outfit is such a diappoitment!!! And that necklace looks like a stethoscope arnd her neck.Mrs Singh looks so elegant!
agree, almost all of Michelle Obama’s outfits during the trip are disappointments…been following the Mrs O blog and I think none of the appearances stood out !
They all look so charming. I love Sonia Gandhi’s saree.
Mrs.Sing is so beautiful. Sonia too. A lovely and dignified appearance from both of them. So proud!!
They all look good, but I do not think Michelle Obama’s hair style is very flattering. Sonia looks very elegant and I am a huge fan of the blue turban on prime minister Manmohan Singh.
Sonia was looking so pretty with the gold dangling earrings…and she and Obama together, two very powerful people and totally unexpected historical figures together..a wonderful picture.
Did not like michelle’s pant outfit
Manmohan Singh looks so wonderful and smart – shame more men don’t wear plain kurtas! x
Forget everyone – check out how graceful and beautiful Sonia Gandhi looks! Wow.
Pray tell me exactly what about Michelle’s dress was Indian?
Naeem Khan. The “Indian” connection
The jacket is from Dries Van Noten’s Fall 2010 collection. The necklace is Ranjana Khan.
Mrs. Gandhi looks stunning.
As do Dr. and Mrs. Singh
Jacket is Dries Van Noten, necklace by Ranjana Khan
from the Mrs.O website
“An exciting tidbit! The first lady wears a necklace by Ranjana Khan, from the designer’s Fall 2010 Art Deco collection. The necklace features black silk cord with a gold and silver medallion and silver chain fringe.
Update: Mrs. O’s jacket is Dries Van Noten, from the designer’s Fall 2010 collection, seen here.”
I completely adore the Obamas; they look perfectly lovely here. They were wonderful throughout their visit…but here they really look incredibly dapper (him) and beautiful (her).
Sonia looking stunning, lovely earrings.
The Obamas’ million watt smiles are the best fashion accessory.
Mrs.Gandhi & Mrs.Kaur look elegant in their political old guard attire of traditional silks/handlooms. Nice but boring.
I like that Mrs.Obama takes risks and mixes it up – that’s what makes it all interesting.
whats the point to keep on trying new stuff and dont reach there forever (atleast till now)
sarees are classy anytime!
To second chanellover, the Mrs.O website doesn’t mention Naeem Khan for this outfit.
According to a later post on the same website, she is wearing Rachel Roy at a state dinner.
P& P you guys got a mention in Times of India as well ….. The name n fame spreads far and wide. :)
congrats again! deserve it everytime !
I LOVEEEE Sonia Gandhi’s taste in saris. This is one so classy! There’s another one I saw with her sitting with Obama and she was in red. That was a lovely sari too.
