LFW Winter/Festive 2012: Pernia Qureshi
Pernia’s show probably was the most anticipated show right after the Gen Next Show. The stylist turned designer presented a Western collection mostly with its only Indian piece coming in the form of a sari on showstopper Amy Jackson. Dropped waist shifts, knee-length beaded dresses and separates marked a collection reminiscent of the 20s.
Some of the looks felt very basic if you ignored the styling. Some pieces also had an Atsu influence (she is a muse to the designer after all). Having said that, we also think the simple collection is just what we need to see on the stars and we’re sure to see it soon, if not on Pernia herself first. After all, she is her best ambassador.

:) nice collection but heavily-heavily-heavily influenced by collections from Victoria Beckham.
SO true! Esp, Victoria, Victoria Beckham…
You must be kidding! Pernia’s collection felt totally underwhelming. The fit is so off even on the models. That doesn’t say much about how it will fit on us mere mortals! Not impressed at all.
Underwhelming.
Looks like a rehash of Stella McC & Victoria Beckham designs.
The blue and beige gowns look understated and elegant, the rest looks ok. The hairdo on Amy looks nice.
Kinda boring as a collection, but Amy looks beautiful.
Every stylist cannot be a good designer…pernia is great at what she does …she is a superb stylist with an amazing eye for detail. period.
“Underwhelming” is an extremely polite way of describing her first outing in the LFW. Its bizarre that she would go ahead and present such an ordinary and non-creative collection. I seriously believe that the first row of clothes above can be seen (and probably upped) in any shop window in Select Citywalk. Where’s the creativity?
The organizers must at least try to vet collections before they are presented. Look at the vast contrast between perinea’s collection and payal khandwala ….now thats what I call original, creative and by a “designer”. there is design in it. for sure!!!
Exactly ! Agree on all the above points, A very very disappointing collection !
So true!just because your famous doesnt mean your a good designer, well for Pernia atleast as for VB-you decide ;)
Loved it.. wearable
I genuinely think Pernia is more a marketing/PR whiz than anything else. Her designs, even on her website are more often than not cheaper reproductions of pieces from net-a-porter/Neiman Marcus. I think that it’s almost insulting that she was given a slot at fashion week.
She’s a great businesswoman, more power to her for that, but is she a good designer? Nope.
Meh. Don’t like one bit.
Friends in high places. How on earth did she get a slot at fashion week and I’m still saving money because I can’t afford to present. I’d anyday hands down present a better collection… and it could sell. Sound a bit crazy I know… but LOOK at that collection.
And best wishes to you… Hope you can show in the near future. Just tell us it’s you, though!
