Considering wedding season is around the corner, be prepared to see a lot of wedding collections during LFW. Day one had Krishna Mehta and Soumitra Mondal presenting such collections.

Krishna Mehta presented a couture collection consisting of lehangas, jackets teamed with saris, and short dresses. Chikan work featured heavily as did sequins and embroidery on fabrics like georgette and jacquard. Like we said, with Diwali and wedding season coming up, there are sure to be many takers.

It’s hard to believe that Soumitra Mondal’s collection used khadi as the base fabric because each of the pieces thanks also to batik looked so pretty and rustic. The collection featured kurtas, lehengas that seemed not too bridal, which is always a good thing since you can wear it more often.

  1. You know I love me some pretty and rustic and so am really liking Soumitra Mandal (that last sari may be posted to me asap) but I often wonder how different this and some of Sabyasachi’s work is from the handloom stuff that you get-sometimes these things look like mixing and matching Gurjari et al prints like one used to. In particular the saris rarely look different. Not criticism, just want to be enlightened-there must be a reason they are snapped up.
