Not In Velvet, Thankfully!
While the rest of the family has given in to velvet, Jaya Bachchan delights by not giving into the trend! We’ll take her short salwars over velvet any day!

She is continuing another Bachchan tradition I guess. Both Aishwarya and Jaya wore longer tops where you could barely see there pants. I guess her look is alright.
Isn’t this the first time that she looks somewhat stylish? I like the peeptoes on her and am glad she isn’t carrying one of those over-sized bags like Zarine Khan and dimple Kapadia.
she looks cute! I love the shoes ( and the smile :)
understated beuty and chicness(if thats even a word lol) at its best ….ladies and few gentlemen XD
beauty*
I am liking the short pant-like salwar! pretty stylish, and a little differnt. thank god she stays away from velvet!!
It’s ok considering her age.
The kameez is good… but on this suit… a chudidar pants goes better… I hate this style of hers weating short salwars on such a rich , heavy and long salvar. This is not the first time she has done this.
She is looking pretty, the kurta is lovely. The peep toe shoes go very well with the outfit. Thankfully she is not taking part in the velvet factory show.
Finally Jaya looks cute. The hair is styled, nice peek toe shoes and a smile.
i see nothing to praise here. a very ordinary and a little too long kurta.
Quamat Hai….
Jaab sabu ko gussa aata hai to jupiter pe bhookamp aata hai.
Jab Jaya bachan smile karati hai to earth per quamat aa jati hai.
(Meaning – When Saboo gets angry there is a quake in Jupiter and when Jaya Bachan smiles ……
From Chacha Chaudhri comics)
she looks very cute when she tries. the kurta is very 90s looking, reminds me of the old kurtas that are still hanging in my mum’s closet. maybe they are coming back in or somethin. anyway, she’s looking quite presentable. i like her face here more than her clothes.
her hair is styled tats y she lookes diferent…better than before
could that kameez be any longer?? i think she can get stuff tailored to fit her height and not her bahus height for Gods sake!
there’s something about this pattern that I am now itching to find, buy, and turn into a contemporary dress. *sigh*
am i the only one missing something year
i dont see the big deal about this dress
though yes very thankful for no velvet
i meant to say ‘am i the only one missing something here’
no idea how one makes such a horrid typo that here becomes year
@Megha
Yappens to all of hus …
(Happens to all of us)
LOL LOL
She looks fine for her age. And the Salwar with this Kameez may not be the most appropriate, but it might be comfortable. Not everyone is comfortable in the Chudidhar. Especially if you have any calf related problem it is not the best.
Thumbs up 4 the shoes, hair style and 4 the smile…..ONLY!
Abu Sandeep, start a new trend, over long kurtis, would be more flattering if she SMILED
ah… ..i just saw a few close up pics of hers ..guess what..??those paisley work on her salwar is of velvet!!!!!!lol!!!!
A sari would be more flattering for her figure. This style of salwar kameez makes her look like a dumpy barrel.
IMHO that’s an awful salwar. I think sarees would look nicer on her (and a nice bindi!).
@ sop- uh oh! that means she’s keeping the family traditions running strong, but thankfully its not an all out velvet kurta!
I don’t like that dress at all, and short shalwar? no way!
like her peeptoes, and hair n yes the smile never goes amiss!
@Such- agreed, sarees are soo much more flattering for her…
she badly needs short hair and lesson in style from Rekha
i think the shalwar kameze is really unflattering for her figure..what’s with the piping up front? it looks like something from the 90’s and yeah i agree that she would have looked much better in a saree…
I agree that this style of kameez is unflattering to her. Short women should try to stay away from the long flowy kameez. Despite that, this seems a better choice than some of the others we’ve seen on her in the past!
This cut hides a multitude of sins, and that is why it is working. Not at all a fan of this outfit, but considering from her previous fashion crimes, this one is sombre, dignified, and ahem, safe.the smile of course is one accessory no one should leave home without. this round to jaya, as opposed to the usually impeccable rekha who was all indogoth mourning.
Personally not feeling such a style for a small frame. But interesting to see the Amishi Clutch on her as well- or So i think it is.
i love her shoes!
