In Donna Karan

Before attending the Screen Actor’s Guild Awards in Marchesa, Freida attended the Producers Guild Awards the night before in a coral/nude colored Donna Karan gown that was almost the same color as the Manav Gangwani sari that she wore to the Mumbai Premiere.

Funny, how a similar coral color minus the bling look so good on Freida. You love?

  1. She is the new Sonam Kapoor we are gonna be on the lookout for. Her amazing smile makes her possible outfit-faux pas (if ever, I mean) forgivable.

  2. I like this outfit a lot more than the sari she wore… the sari looked really cheap and I definitely didnt like how she draped the sari but this dress is classier (although not my favorite color) and she looks really good!

  3. Love your stuff. My colleague introduced me to your site and convinced me I would be addicted (she is) and looks like I will be too. Have soooooo many of pages to go through.

  4. the dress is so so for me. I loved the other blue color on her better…
but what I am struck by is that her makeup is ALWAYS impeccably flawless….never looks caked up. She looks radiant!

  5. The dress just sucks. Hate the draping, the color, the lack of anything awe-inspiring.

I am still wondering why two seconds of on-screen time, coupled with two lines makes this girl the face of “Slumdog Millionaire” over Dev Patel (who is the main star)? She breaks off her engagement, she is seen everywhere now, and people are commenting about her fashion sense; all because of Danny Boyle, the slums of Mumbai, Dev Patel, and a creative screenplay. I don’t get it. :/

  6. @not a sheep…finally, it is like the emperor’s new clothes. enough frieda already! she is the new flavor, endorsed internationally, and now everyone is oohing and aahing and baaing over her. a total plain jane she is, and has all the accoutrements international platform can give her. the whole slumdog team and dev patel are the true heroes who deserve coverage. frieda does not deserve this much facetime. i kinda liked the middle latika and the first one much more than her.good job not a sheep, i dislike the fawning over frieda trend these days. to pardesis frieda is like fresh air, but desis should know better that these clothes are not spun with gold….or that frieda would have been passed over had slumdog not barked her way.

  7. Well , in comparison to how the model is wearing the gown, i think that becuuse of Freida’s height the gown is not really looking flattering on her…

and because the gown is simple in style and color she could have worn her hair up and accompanied her hair style with nice pair of drop earings.

This type of gown would sit very well with someone who has a tall frame like Nicole Kidman.

  8. ummm…well maybe the fact that she is getting written about everyone is one of the reasons for the movie being talked about…i know the movie is fantastic but sometimes there has to be a marketing spin and Freida is that
and she is a fantastic brand ambassador for the movie so why fault her for it
when Ash gets written about wearing Longines – does that mean she designed the watch?

anyway back to what she’s wearing – she is positively radiant…!

  9. Its amsuing what a movie can do for you, I saw the movie and her role/acting wasn’t that big or amusing but here she is wearing stylish gowns and posing in every red carpet event around the globe, I hope warner’s brother discover me too, I promise Ill do a way better job than her and I am much more photogenic than her anytime

i think you missed the point here. no one above said anything about her performance in the movie!!! they were (and have been) talking about HER INCREDIBLE SENSE OF DRESSING. and that is frieda’s own!!! she came from no filmi background and to wear understated, elegant outfits versus ostentatious labels that many bollywood ‘veterans’ resort to is truly remarkable and admirable in my opinion! you go girl!!!

  11. @k, this is not the acting arena i agree, but becos of the international angle, freida is lucky to get all the attention., let us not bring ash and longines here, ash has worked her bottoms off, and is a legit cause. freida’s dress sense is not all that, as roni puts it, a nicole kidman would do better justice to this particular gown. i kinda liked freida in the indian ensemble before the slumdog avalanche hit her fulltime to get all the gaultiers and marchesa freebies. let us not forget, the slumdog aura is not freida, it is the grande dame herself, mumbai….you go mumbai and the entire slumdog team, including all the three latikas.

i used to think the same way..but didnt p&p mention that she has a stylist? i do agree it might have to do with how slumdog is being marketed…her outfits certainly get ppl talking…but i think its COMPLETELY UNFAIR that the main character…DEV never gets to talk on stage…or during red carpet interviews..he is the one i realy want to see…anil and freida kind of hog the limelight and their roles were not exactly significant.

  13. I hate to comment about anything other than the fashion itself but sometimes the person wearing the fashion can overshadow it completely. My point is that, she is no different than me and you, she is not extremely talented, nor an extreme beauty, that has some serious notches on her belt — she is just someone who appeared for maybe five minutes in one of the major movies of the year. I just can’t stand that we have come to a point where looks/sex appeal/fashion choices supersede actual talent or acting/singing ability. We have become a world where we value looks, money, and fashion over actual talent. Examples would be Kareena Kapoor, Paris Hilton, Jessica Simpson, Britney Spears, so on and so forth. Something about her showing up on every red carpet decked out in designer wear and grinning ear to ear as if she is the reason for the success of that movie just irks me deep down. Also, I agree that I liked the younger Latikas ten times better. Lastly, sorry, P&P for going off on a tangent unrelated to fashion AND I am not some hater, just being honest with my own sentiments about the person and not so much the fashion.

  14. naaa.. too bland.. wheres the bling? both – manavs outfit and this one suck, tho this has a great draping..

i agree with some of the comments above.. i think the younger lot in SM were THE best! and they deserve more red carpet time than the others.. including Dev Patel (i didnt think his acting was better than the youngest Jamals).. but i guess since she is the only one who can represent the movie, she takes it all.. good for her, tho!

  15. Not a Sheep, you said it sister. We too could look good if we had a team of HW stylists and studio money backing us. I ‘m bored with Freida now especially since she did nothing in the movie.

BTW, this is not a good look for her – bad gown and hair but great makeup.

  16. Many established and polished actresses with stylists and co have failed to impress on the red carpet. So just being well groomed and having access to stylists doesn’t make anyone impressive. Give Freida some credit!!

@not a sheep: I don’t knwo why you think everyone thinks Freida is the reason for the success of the movie. The movie is successful because of the movie itself. Freida is basking in its glory…but I agree that she is being hyped at the moment and getting more attention than anybody else…and I am quite surprised by that myself! Maybe the girl has something…let’s wait and see what she does after all the hype dies :-)

  17. showbiz is all about luck … So talent or no talent..lets give credit to freida for looking better than the other vaterans of the redcarpet especially as a new comer.
On this blog, we have talked about so many other ladies here who are featured either because of their husband’s money(anu?)..or fame without any talent(katrina kaif, aishwarya). Stylist, or no stlyist…freida deserves all the attention she’s been getting for being the best dresses..as even though aishwarya has so much money and experience, she has never looked great on the red carpet in cannes.I have a hunch that all this publicity maybe a 1 movie thing for freida and i am glad she is making most of it.As the only female star, she is handling all the appearanceslike a pro.

  18. The red carpet is really about glamour, and beautiful clothes and jewels and not so much about the work. I think you have to give her credit for being the first Indian actress to really impress on the red carpet. Even Aishwarya with so many appearances and all the best designers at work has never turned up looking so well put together consecutively event after event.
I dont care what she did in the movie but purely from a fashion point of view, she’s been a great ambassador. And I’d like to add she’s very confident and came across bright in all her interviews unlike our other stars.

  19. Not A Sheep, I totally agree with every single word you said, so true I just can’t believe the hype about her! I always thought that Aish is overrated but this just tops everything!

To me her style is pretty much just a plain jane style, very boring, very safe, nothing interesting, nothing new….

  20. Hey, you guys realize that even if Freida doesn’t have a big role, people (esp guys in the US) have been flocking to the theatres to see her. So, she is one of the big reasons for the movie doing so well in the box office. It is a marketing strategy, as much as all the stars showing up on TV shows in India just before their movie releases.
It is an amazing rise, and I am sure all of you would have taken advantage the same way. Some people are just plain envious. I love the way she represents herself and the country on the red carpet and TV interviews. And she does give a shout out to the kids in the movie every chance she gets.

  21. I quite agree with Not a Sheep. I do think Freida is gorgeous, has terrific fashion sense, and I am sure she has done a good job in SM (haven’t seen the film yet, unfortunately), but the Pintomania among desis is something I’m not quite able to understand. It seems they only reason they like her is that she is not Aishwarya Rai. Rai’s international projects are typically met with cynicism and scorn (“She’s so desperate to be recognised by the West”), yet some unknown model gets a small role in an international movie and she’s suddenly the toast of the town among desis. Truly, everyone loves an underdog it seems :)

That said, I love Freida’s style. And yes, she *is* gorgeous. I hope she enjoys her 15 mins in the spotlight.

  22. Yeah…I guess my biggest issue with her is the latest news that she broke off her engagement to some guy in Banglore so she could pursue her “career” — umm, what career? I respect people who remain down-to-earth, humble, and true to themselves no matter where life takes them or what luck they may stumble upon. It all just seemed to have gone to her head overnight and that’s annoying. With all that being said, at the end of the day, I am glad that Indian beauty is being represented in its true light because she does carry herself well. I gotta say though, Anil Kapoor was slightly embarrassing getting up and pumping his fists like a moron at the Golden Globes. Shah Rukh was weird mentioning “pelvic thrusts” to an audience who wouldn’t know what he heck he was talking about…so to Freida, thank you for not being a weirdo and at least representing Indian women as sane, classy, beautiful creatures as that is who we are.

Oh yeah, still don’t like her dress here…and I hope she wears something ethnic soon as there is so much to choose from.

  23. @ Prem Rogue: The Pintomania probably stems from us being happy to see a new face after the same old Kareenas, Katrinas, etc. It’s obvious though form the comments on this page that people are already ready for the next fresh face. That being said, I think she’s very pretty and love her understated sense of style.

  24. @Not A Sheep: With due respect to your feelings towards celebs, isn’t this carrying your grouse against Frieda a bit too far? With respect to “umm, what career?”, well, we don’t know yet, do we? This is just her first film! Frankly, I don’t know about her personal life, and I couldn’t care less… but I don’t see why she shouldn’t be celebrating her first film (and the length of her role or her performance is secondary to the fact that she is part of it) just because of your “issue with her.. latest news”

  25. LOL – some people need to calm down. Tabu did more in The Namesake and got some attention. But was not a media seeker like Freida. Let’s see where Freida, Dev and Anil are a year or two from now in HW. The only person who seems to be a regular in HW is Irrfan in his supporting roles and he stays out of the limelight.

BTW, there is a picture of Freida in a short dress with her underwear showing (like Paris or Britney) that is making the rounds.

  26. Can we stop this already?? This is a fashion blog…it’s best to keep other “things” to a minimum. I come here for fun not to hear people venting out their frustration on how celeb x is doing this and celeb y is doing that. Please this is a request!

  27. Hey k=)
She had a stylist named george kotsiopoulos. She said so in an interview. Moreover, her impeccable sense of dressing comes for free :))) as she said that she and “george” have a great time opening boxes sent from designers and deciding what to wear!

@ Not A Sheep: I was also really really disappointed for the hype she is being given for 60 seconds of smiling in the movie. whereas Dev Patel and all the other stars are fading into oblivion. Seems way too unfair doesnt it ??

Someone mentoned Ash?? Errr. me for one wants to disappear in a crack on the floor whenever she opens her mouth at Cannes, that is after i turn a blind eye to all her fashion faux pas!

So Kudos to freida for doing us all proud!!

  28. She’s the only female star of the movie, so it’s not surprising that her red carpet appearances are played up. And she seems like a nice girl, more articulate than most inanity-spewing Bollywood types (seriously, I had to cringe when Aishwarya Rai was on Oprah, and whenever Shah Rukh Khan opens his mouth in public). AND she dresses better- lots of people have stylists, but not everyone manages looking as good as Ms Pinto does, so good for her being pretty, young, and knowing how to dress, even with help.

Also, she’s a refreshing change from the Kareenas, Katrinas etc of this world. It’s nice to see a well-dressed new face, especially when it’s as pretty as Frieda.
