In Alexander McQueen

Newly appointed as another ambassador for L’Oréal Paris, Deepika unveiled the Cannes collection in Mumbai on Friday wearing a printed Alexander McQueen midi dress from the Spring 2017 collection.

Having seen that bustier on the dress when it was first presented, I really wish Ms. Padukone had worn it as well and tried to gone a different route with her hairdo and makeup. It would’ve made her look so much more interesting. As is, I found her underwhelming.

  1. Completely agree with you P & P. The leather bralet was the lynchpin of this look. Otherwise, it could pass off as a Hemant & Nandita casual dress. With the bold lip and wavy hair, its giving me a quinceanera vibe

  2. While I understand your point of view, I am not sure that it would be an event appropriate look with the bustier. The dress would look costumey; especially with any red-lips which they likely wanted to showcase. I think she looks great; albeit a little boring.
The dress fits her like a glove, the make-up looks great too. I wish she goes for the voluminous hair look circa IIFA days for her upcoming appearances.

    • But then why choose this dress at all? I agree with the leather bustier it won’t fit this event, she could’ve saved this as an edgy look for some other event

  3. I don’t think this look is underwhelming in any way. Let’s not forget she’s at a press meet. Her hair and makeup is on point but the outfit is a tad bit costumey.

  4. She cannot carry off this dress even minus the bustier. And that safe hairstyle and shoes take the look some notches down.

  5. Both variations of the dress look too costume-y for the event in question. Why choose this? I’m sure she had many options..

  6. When you’re Deepika Padukone, have all the stylists and opportunities in the world at your disposal, and still can’t produce one good look…maybe you need to reconsider your aesthetic. I think she could really use a massive makeover, starting with that godawful hair.

  7. Sometimes one wonders about designers, even an AMQ. To a fitted dress you add renaissance sleeves. And to be “edgy” you add a black/leather/metal. Put it on a celeb and you have a “must have dress” via high street knock-offs.

Things that make you think modern fashion is a rip-off.

  8. Honestly this dress is not for her body type, she needs to educate herself on fashion and styling as she is now attending a lot of international events representing India in some sort.
She cant get away by saying I am dressing for myself or I am very simple blah blah! We come from a very rich heritage of fabric and fashion, stop letting us down dear!
