In Sanjay Garg
Alia attended the Bachchan Diwali party wearing a Sanjay Garg lehenga which on the runway was presented with a blue brocade dupatta and a pink lehenga skirt. Alia’s look let the brocade blouse be the highlight and swapping the other pieces with cream versions worked for her. The look from the runway would’ve felt too mature on her.
This was a modification we quite like. You?
Left: Sanjay Garg
Right: Alia Bhatt at Diwali Party
I personally think Alia gravitates towards simple and sophisticated designs. You rarely catch her in zataak/glitzy/flambouyant outfits, as one would expect young girls to wear in order to look more youthful. I myself tend to be that way and can relate to it. Her other Diwali look too was so simple and elegant (a white top with pink brocade sumo pants by Payal Khandwala). If that’s what she is comfortable in then I guess she should stick to it :)
Coming to this specific look, the lehenga skirt could’ve been better, looks pretty drab here. Her make-up if good!
+100 totally agreed. I’ll take these types of outfits over garish & loud designs any day!
She looks gorgeous in the selfie. Coincidentally, I wore a brocade + art silk pavda chatta for Diwali.:P Wish we had better pics of her with the full lehenga, she is caught off on angles where we can’t see the outfit proper. I like that she keeps it always non OTT. I miss serene/calm looks of Shraddha Kapoor who never does OTT too.
What’s not to like? Alia looks adorable in this outfit. It’s simple and yet festive, with the blue adding a nice pop of color. Like Avani mentioned, she looks gorgeous in the selfie.
No ways, the lehenga and dupatta look like they are made out of cheap material and the top is ill fitting, makes her seem like she has a very flat figure.
She wore this for Diwali?? Hmm.. More often than not, I’m unimpressed with her choice of clothing. It hardly matters whether you go for colorblocking or one toned, pastel shades, it’s the styling and attitude that matters. I for once really dislike her choice of skirt. Looks very unappealing. The look overall feels very incomplete. Since she is wearing huge jhumkas, a statement ring or nice, golden bangles could have be worn. Because when I look below her face, she looks “incomplete” or in other words, the look leaves you wanting for something more! Even a nice metal watch would have looked nice.. As of now she needs to learn the art of styling.
There is always an element of “something missing” in her entire look. She really needs to strike balance. When it comes to Alia, I have been noticing of late that, P&P deliberately try to “tone down” their language even when they don’t like her look and don’t pick on her for details. While most others are verbally crucified for the very same things!
I’m saying this because considering that she is young, going for a long sleeved traditional blouse is a bad idea in the first place. That in itself, ages her immensely! And even If I go for a such a long sleeved sari type blouse, I would immediately balance the look by wearing a stack of bangles or a huge statement ring! Also no comments from you on her makeup.. so so heavy it is! In Pic 3, it is visible, that her makeup is damn heavy handed.
aah, the luxury of time .
So true..
Sorry I meant ‘So true’ to the comment regarding ‘so much time’… I think Alia’s dressing sense is modern simplistic. Love it.
+100. She is young and keeps it fresh instead of decking up like it’s her wedding.
Who cares man! All the boot-lickers are here it seems.
Nice thesis dude ;-)
This look does not work on so many levels:
1. The obvious fitting issues of the top. Feels like someone is squeezing her chest
2. The cheap material
3. The colors dont go well together too
4. The model makes it look classy but on Alia it looks generic
I have never been a fan of Alia’s style. While i like its not OTT, it most of the times comes across as very generic. She is young. I would love to see her in more youthful colors.
Is it Pooja Mor on the left?
Give her a break guys! It’s the angle of the pic+material that makes the top took flat. She’s caught exiting the car, managing the dupatta, trying not to fall, why compare that with a red carpet pose where they are more proper. Jeez, give people a comment section and the claws come out.
Alia’s dressing sense is pretty pathetic. Nothing great here. Not liking it.
Alia looks perfect. I don’t see any flat chest. I love everything about it.
I love her look. I’m so glad she swapped the other pieces for cream ones to let the choli stand out. I also love that she only wore jhumkas because it really didn’t need anything else.
What in the world is going on in these comments
I refuse to believe there are so many nasty people on this board and have to think one weirdo with a dumb vendetta is posting over and over with different names
As for Alia…she looks adorable
Festive yet simple
Just because you don’t agree with others doesn’t make others nasty. Your lack of respect for others’ opinion while upholding your own shows WHO NASTY is. Seriously, it’s blog, so take your weirdness and self-righteous attitude somewhere else.
Lol, yup there’s a striking similarity between the tone of some comments.
That choli looks like a DIY project. Nothing about it is designer. It looks tacky shiny ill fit. And the dupatta and lehenga are just blah. I agree with someone above that her looks are always have something missing. I’m not anyone who’s posted above. Ppl don’t have a dumb vendetta. The whole point is to state ur opinion. And sometimes many ppl can have similar options.
Agree 100%. She doesn’t have a convincing personality, hence that reflects in her dress sense. It is so easy to pick on others when you don’t agree with them. With all the lyrical comments on alia that I am reading here, despite she looking disgusting (seriously, I don’t have any problem with others’ opinions), it is clear, it can be said that it is an entire “jhund” of boot-lickers that is doing the rounds here rather than the “nasty people” writing their opinions.
Like it was recently said by SRK, there is NO tolerance in the country. In this context, I would say -INDEED, man. INDEED.
A rare miss for Alia. Not feeling the SG here. She needs to stick to more youthful and age appropriate stuff. Lets leave the payal khandwalas and SGs to the 30+ crowd.
She looks very pretty and the outfit is festive while also being classy – quite a rarity in Bollywood!!
Mini mathur wore the same dress..sometime in dec last year
Cute look overall! Loving her hair.
