See It, Shop It: Lai X HHC

We started this blog ten years ago, yes it’s been quite the journey, and along the way have had our tastes evolve, find causes we are passionate about and discovered brands and labels that we’ve fallen in love with. Lai being one such brand, a small indie label with beautiful jewelry and an aesthetic we can relate to.

The silver jewelry handcrafted in India balances that which is timeless and contemporary, wearable and chic all perfectly.

Puja, the designer behind Lai has won many awards including those from DeBeers and World Gold Council and it’s easy to see why. Each piece of beautifully crafted jewelry seems to have a story to tell… And though we were hard-pressed to pick just a few favorites (we loved them all), we’ve chosen some pieces that we instantly fell in love with.

Curating our favorites has been fun and we hope you enjoy shopping some of these pieces we picked out.

Not that one needs an excuse to shop these stunning pieces, we should point out that 10% of all sales will be going to UNHCR. In all seriousness though, given the world we find ourselves in, every bit counts.

The pictures above are from a couple of weeks ago, taken at a press conference, announcing the launch of Reliance Jewellery stores in Bangalore. The models sashayed down the runway, showcasing myriad designs mostly in Gold. However, the question is, is there absolutely anything left that Reliance hasn’t dipped its fingers into??

And more importantly, is that male model wearing heavy gold jewellery?!!

Bangalore also saw a Shobha Asar jewellery exhibition at The Oberoi and for its inauguration, the star power came in the form of Kareena Kapoor.

Poonam Soni as a jewellery designer has set many a milestone and now added another feather in an already much crowded hat! Her jewellery line called ‘Monochromes’ (that features art-work of Laxman Shreshtha) has just been featured in the limited edition Italian book, ‘Trends For Jewellery Forecast 2009’ and is being called the first of its kind in the world! No small honor when you consider the fact that brands like Tiffany, Cartier and Bulgari are also featured in the book!

‘Society’ magazine mentions that only eight pieces of ‘Monochromes’ will be put up for private viewing and sale this month.
