Blast From The Past
After just about forever, we spotted singer Shweta Shetty at a recent event!
You know, this is the same woman who gave us ‘Johnny Johnny Joker‘ way back when and we sure were expecting more out of her! This comes as a total and complete let-down!
Shweta Shetty At Carlsberg Bash
Remember the song? Let me just say it gets us nostalgic without giving away our age too much!! ;)

Long before I understood style I watched this video and now seeing it again after so many years I can’t help but think ..this is a very stylistic video …Robert Palmer’s “addicted to love” meets Madonna’s “Vogue”…ok I am OLD ;-)
ok maybe the only commonality between Vogue and Johnny is the Black and white part of the video. The Palmer and this video share the lipstick…still damn good video.
I miss the nineties
oh dear! i hope she’s been okay…
I remember her ‘deewane to deewane hain’ ;)
Loved that song!!! Ah nostalgia indeed! :)
Oh wow… I happened to love her song johny johny joker…
n btw I hate the way she has draped her sari on shoulder…
dammit, i want the 90s back!
she looks so sad. and hurt.
look beyond appearances ladies.
I youtubed the deewane song, nice. LOL Divya, I am old too, feels old watching the song. I was thinking the other day, who is the style icon of 90s? Diana? Kate Moss? Spice girls? :/ Hmmm, all British.
My God she looks kinda ‘vamp-ish’ in her side profile – her pulled back hair-do is making her look really severe, and her makeup is no help either!! Nor is the saree and the way she has it draped…..but I do applaud her for still having kept a figure gorgeous enough to carry off that blouse!! I can’t think of many 90’s celebs who can do that!!
she looks a bit ‘severe’ but its not THAT bad for gods sake! I’ve seen a lot worse on these pages thats for sure.
oh my, where to begin commenting on these pics….without not getting them posted. hmm….i’ll leave it at that….
why is that johnny tune so familiar, is it copied from some english song?
i thought it was manyata.
*blink blink*
*gape*
OMG I just view the video of this sond and DEEWANE TO DEEWANE HAIN.. on you tube.. she looked so good back then as compared to other female pop starts in that era… and I must say enjoed these songs much more than before.. apparently I was too young for this vedeo when it first came out :P
*song
i agree with junoesque,
but bout her songs, oh yes deewane was bril me n my siter always udsed to sing that! but this track i had never heard before…maybe i’m not too old… ? hehe
nightmare
sorry but she looks scary
I hate it when women drape the pallu to sort of hang lazily down their front – it makes the wearer look like a whale, not to mention the peek-a-boob effect.
nice body, face not so much..maybe if she cracked a smile once in a while
Bloody hell, I was just thinking about her the other day wondering where she was!
a better draping n gud makeup n she’d hve luked pretty gud.
n is it just me or is dat pencil thin highly arched brows extremely unflattering an anybody?
don’t care how she looks… LOVE her!
wish she were back singing and releasing albums…!
LOL
that song is AWESOME (this is the first time I’ve seen it)
ahahaha, she was quire fashionable in the 80’s- you’d think that would work for her right now
@ashwini,yeas they are -_-
Ahaha, as a young victim of the multicolored windbreaker, it’s nice to see that the 80’s/90’s affected EVERYONE. lol!
The sari is a little bland, but it’s more her scrubbed, severe face that’s the problem here! I agree that penciled thin eyebrows are not a good look on anyone…and with that dark lipstick it ages her in an unflattering way.
@ Sana
she got married to some german businessman I guess
OMG!! whatever happened to the Hot Shweta Shetty..I used to LOVE the “Dewaane” song and also Suneeta Rao’s “pari hoon main”…..
She needs to let her hair down..quite literally
i want the 90s back too.. early 2000s would be okay as well:-)
The deadly chola brows !
The hair is adding to the severeness of the face
OMGOMGOMG haven’t heard that song in forever! gets me nostalgic too!… i remember her “deewane to deewane hain” song too lol
as for her saree.. that blouse is doing weird things in the back. total dislike for me!
LOL! what a funny song.
never heard of it…so unfortunately cannot partake in the nostalgia
Swets is BACK…met with her in another function and she looks waaaay better. Has not changed her style tho
The drape is what is killing this look…and the makeup too.
here’s the Deewane song, did anyone else used to think her Gold chain mail bikini/miniskirt + heavy gold jewelery was soooo hot! Nostalgia indeed.
she’s in fantastic shape for her age… and I LOVED that song
I never knew i was ageing. But then u reminded me where i stand! Yeah, I miss the 90s too. That was the time when the POp craze took over India – with alisha, baba sehgal, mehnaz, anaida and the rest. To think, do we have indians of that calibre now??? Sad indeed. Music videos are now more of “Hum to tehre pardesi ….. ” type. Miss POP.
Hey Nepali I think Posh is a very very stylish woman these days…however in the nineties not so sure..
I like quirky …so Gwen Stefani with her rocking bindi, her hair, and her RED lipstick. Madonna with her cone bra and whimiscal outfits…sometimes not so much (remember when she was dating Denis Rodman…am I giving out too much about my age???)
Diana was probably the most iconic..beautiful and so well put together, her lust worthy gowns…I think the more her relationship soured the more she blossomed as a woman…sad though.
ok..I think we might need to do some research on this one…will start googling as soon as I can ;-)
Haha, i totally remember that ‘Deewane toh deewane hai’ song!
Gawd, she is looking so ghastly. sad. but her figure is good, considering her age.
@Indian Girls: OMG LOL! Chola brows definitely= deadly!
Yeah, Posh is very stylish, and had distinct style and maybe Mel C as well, which didn’t quite match the rest of the spice girls’ style back then. Oh Gwen Stefani, yeah, she had a distinct style, which now is more ladylike, yet distinctive. I know Madonna dated Denis Rodman, but I don’t remember her much, or I was interested in others. I know she was iconic in the 80s or early 90s, but she keeps reinventing herself. Yeah, Diana started off as a conservative dresser, and slowly found her voice in everything else.
In Hindi movies, the influences may have been from the west, but I remember Urmila’s style in Rangeela; boots with short flared skirts, a mainstream version of grunge style (?) and Kajol in DDLJ; dresses with boots. I think Sonali Bendre was fashionable; her frizzy hair with side parting then sleek straight hair with middle parting, figure hugging clothes, etc. Karishma was also becoming popular with her fashion.
Wow…I remember how much I used to love that song…wow those were the days *sob sob* sry I am a very nostalgic person:(…she looks awesome in the vid, that sari does nothing for her.
Hey guys, let´s give our pop icon a break! I recently saw her at a bar in Bombay and I just freaked out. The same long lustrous hair, that BODY, that face….she looked better than she did in 93. This pic is just very unflattering and the photographer needs to be shot. Look at the state of our pop scene in India, Alisha and Shweta were the only popstars till today and I can´t think of anyone better than them…Wish she had stayed back in India to concentrate on her singing, but love has taken her to Germany…..sigh!
Even I saw Ms Shetty with Nawaz Modi Singhania at the Taj and she looked stunning with simple blue jeans which showed her super worked out body…nothing like this horrendous picture of her here!
