Sari Style
In her yellow chiffon sari, Sharmila cut a picture of absolute elegance on the MAMI red carpet. Diamond jewelry, a classic wristwatch and Bottega Veneta clutch rounded out the look perfectly.
Nothing to fault here; she looked lovely.

Best dressed of the night!
So dreamy! Where does one go to buy these sarees? Any suggestions girls? Either in Mumbai or online?
Wowwwww! that really how u wear a saree… all those spoilers may take some lessons. its not just the styling, the entire feel n mannering as well.
And this ladies is how its done!
She looks so beautiful and elegant.
Somehow, the drape doesn’t seem apt at her age, given the high transparency of the fabric.
ugh. stop being so ageist. go away.
Ha ha, OK. Just that this sort of drape was in vogue during her time/movies.
Wow. What a horrible thing to say. She looks divine. What part of her body can you see in the “highly transparent” fabric? Senorita said it perfectly. Go away.
Okay so at what age would you draw the line? 30? 35? 40? 50? 60? I’m curious about how you decide the age appropriateness of something.
That apart, among so many stars the one to stand out is a grandmom in her classic sari. Well done Ms Tagore!
Absolutely stunning
And this, ladies, is how you make heads turn with sheer class.
Now this is grace and elegance.
Her dimpled smile is enough to steal my heart. Even after so many decades! :)
She is the epitome of grace and elegance. What a beautiful color – she looks beautiful.
Best dressed for sure!
Slays it with her elegance and class!
Speechless..awestruck! Perfection from head to toe!
LOVE YOU Sharmila ji!!!
This is perfection. She looks so beautiful.
Major love!
Sharmila is so so graceful, and ageless…
This is what grace is. Grace personified.
Sometimes we need to see such graceful ladies on this blog, to see how they wear saris.
Can someone tell me how much this sari would cost? And where to buy such type of chiffon saris?
Chiffons are made of silk thread, so good ones would cost upwards of 5K INR at least; designer ones upwards of 10K.
Thank you.
You can buy a pure chiffon plain saree at Nalli’s between 1600 and 2200. Ombre ones cost more, printed ones may also cost more, the quality varies, I love Chamundi Chiffon (Bangalore). French chiffons will cost more and yes you can buy loads of plain chiffons from Nalli-they have good colours
Thank you Kiwi for the information. One doubt, is it 1600 – 2200 or 16000 – 22000? Want to make sure.
no bling
no expensive designer label
no color contrast
no weird hair do
no awkward poses
no skin show
no fusion drapes…..STILL I go wow the moment you see this pic, some major love flooding all over !
No wonder our moms, grandmothers still carry themselves so gracefully. Those days it came naturally, now a days there are classes to behave graceful..lol
The moment ‘I’ see this pic **
True. She didn’t even color her grey hair. That itself shows she was aging gracefully all these decades.
Now, this is what royalty looks like. Someone once famously said simplicity pushed to the extreme becomes elegance, and she proves it.
These ladies of yester years know how to exude elegance draped in a saree. Absolutely beautiful.
Elegance personified…loving it every bit!
Sorry can someone please confirm whether this saree is silk organza or silk chiffon?
