I agree. I also happened to read an article somewhere which was talking abt how miss india contestants doesn’t look “indian” anymore. All tall, pale and skinny girls. no one from south india and one girl from assam. its such a shame. While I understand we are perhaps trying to match to international pageants standards, it’s a complete misrepresentation of majority of the population. Most of us don’t look anything like them. kudos to the designers n team. hope lot others from the fashion industry supports this.
But why limit to skin colour? If you are not tall and skinny by international standards, you won’t make it either. So this not about a proper representation but rather about finding those who fit a template.
