In Masaba
Masaba wearing her own design to a Diwali do didn’t really come as a surprise. What however made for a pleasant change was spotting one of the designer’s saris on Soha at a recent launch.

Hate both sarees. Nothing pleasant about them.
Ghastly ghastly ghastly…… What on earth is this
Masaba’s designs are so fun, I have been trying to get holf of her camera and hand print clothing from Pernia’s shop, always sold out!
In the past 3 years of me being a visitor of this blog, I must have seen these Masaba prints 15343536353 times and counting. How can a designer not come up with something new and more creative in so many years is beyond me.
I saw a couple of Masaba’s clothes at a store and she has her own distinct aesthetic, I appreciate that.
But you really do have to be careful with bold prints, volume, colours and the like and how you mix them up. The Soha sari is all wrong, for e.g.
Of course this seems to be a problem with way too many Indian designers working with saris
Not liking that shade of gold blouse with the sari. And what is that funny side seam thing happening in a different colour? Big dots on a sari? How original.;)
I like Soha’s sari (though she does need a hair intervention pronto) but Masaba’s overall ‘look’ leaves a lot to be desired: a different blouse, different styling, different sari? She looks like someone who is TRYING on a sari, very uncomfortably at that. Not a fan.
See i appreciate that she is trying offbeat color combos……but the colors should gel n look appropriate…..this golden blouse is an eye sore and seriously Masaba……your designs have become monotonous thus boring.
soha has no dress sense! bad hair and horrible drape…
WHAT NOT TO WEAR!!!
Eye sore ….
Soha looks graceful in the sari, but masaba looks horrendous, looks like she dragged a bedspread n forcefully got out, both the blouses are horribly stitched, one could look pass soha for that blunder but doesn’t wrk when a designer makes that mistake.
Getting tired of these sarees now… To start with they were quirky and interesting….Time for Masaba to change it up now….
Masaba looks bad…that blouse is an eye sore. Soha looks nice but she could have done better. The fir of her blouse is also off.
I don’t use this word freely, but these sarees are just plain UGLY. I appreciate some of her more quirky designs but her clothes look poorly made and sloppy. Masaba’s clothes get a lot of visibility mostly because of her easy access to celebrities, but she really needs to step it up if she wants to stay in this for the long run.
Standing out in a crowd is a good thing sometimes but Masaba’s designs stand out like a sore thumb. Every second outfit looks like a 5th grade arts and craft project. There is a sense of quirky but no finish in her clothes.
I vehemently hate Masaba’s saris. They are not aesthetically appealing in any way
Considering how exquisite saris can be, especially the traditional woven and embroidered ones, these leave a lot to be desired. Do modern interpretations have to be such a hotch-potch, neither graceful nor pretty.
I welcome a unique stamp from a designer however these sarees fall short of any desirability index! On some level the polka dot white/black/blue saree may work but when I look at how horribly it is matched with the blouse and how awfully it is draped, any appeal is soon forgotten. It is pathetic to call these sarees designer when a simple ordinary cotton saree has more oomph and splendor compared to these spins!
Cannot agree more!
how are these not what the heyy? beyond hideous
agree
I think masaba’s saris are interesting, but neither of the two have the body to carry a sari, leave alone one that is so busy. Masaba would look much better in a kurta to her knee with fitted churidar.
