Lina Tipnis’ collection drew it’s inspiration from Turkey and while she could’ve floored us, left us instead with a mellow “But haven’t we seen this before?” feeling.
The jeweled dresses were signature Tipnis; we’ve seen it before in her previous collections. The map print dresses with the jewelled detail didn’t really work for us visually. Boring and busy. What I did like though were the prints inspired from the blue Iznik tiles. So summer.
I do have a feeling we’ll be seeing many of these jeweled shifts off the runway.

Oh baby, bling it on. This collection from Payal Singhal almost had us reaching for our shades. The crystal embroidery/the jeweled necklines under the bright runway lights were positively blinding. (We saw this collection in the store later and it still was jarring up close.)
In theory it sounds great… lots of separates, neutral colors like ecru in simple silhouettes paired with statement making jewel/crystal encrusted necklines but in reality, it was just so jarring. Loud and overwhelming, it was hard to look past the shimmer.
Considering though that these dresses photograph better than they look in person and the fact that many love their ‘bling’, I have a feeling we’ll be doing ‘spottings’ of this collection soon.
