Age Of Grace

Comment image 33

We’ve always admired Waheeda for her easy elegance and grace but are feeling a little letdown with her choice of bag! Especially after having spotted the supremely understated Muse on her! Why the monogrammed Coach? Hey, its not about the label, its about the monogram! Coach itself has so many non-monogrammed nice bags… Oh, well!

Can’t fault her too much though… we can only hope to age at least half as gracefully as her!

  1. Her overall look is good except the bag. I despised monogram, but I am trying to warm up to it. I think I can accept Gucci monogram and maybe LV in some designs, but not Fendi and Coach. The patterns they create just don’t look nice to me.

  2. agreed, Coach has always struck me as a sort of poor man’s rich…for those people who can’t afford LV (because we all know it’s the same people)
    fulgy bag, but beautiful lady

  3. Ok in Waheeda’s case we have to overlook the monogram coz it could easily be a design, I mean it’s not as in your face, say like fendi! And, heck the bag looks good and I love Waheeda :)

  4. Actually, I quite like this look on her – since her sari is plain, the bag contrast against it. While it’s not the most ideal of looks, I think it kind of works.

    She’s so gorgeous!

  5. She looks beautiful as usual. She might have been going for a match look with the bag but wish she didn’t.

I despise monograms except on Gucci. I espc hate Guess and Coach monograms. Its soo in your face and it looks soo tacky – espc when lil’ tweens/teens carry it around. Monograms makes the bag just lose its class n appeal.

  6. She is just so lovely! And I just love her saree–that nudepinkpeachapricot colour is my fave!! Waheeda can give everyone steep competition in the beauty, grace and style department.

  7. I don’t have a problem with Coach; I think it’s nice that they offer good-quality purses at reasonable prices. However, I do have a problem with their monogrammed bags. Like P&P said, Coach does have some gorgeous non-monogrammed purses. So, it does disappoint me when I see people parading around their supremely tacky monogrammed purses, especially when there are alternatives in a similar price range.

Personally, I don’t really understand pairing large totes with saris and other Indian outfits. I think large bags tend to look really bulky against Indian clothing, while clutches look elegant. But that’s just my opinion. :o)

  8. She look so elegant & I do not mind the bag. But I do wish she does her hair differently. Maybe a slight fringe would look nice.
That said, I think if we can look half as good as her at her age, it’ll be a major achievement.

  9. First off, Coach is a decent product. I like the fact that it is not bank busting like a LV or a Birkin. I also like the fact it is not cheap chinese junk. About the monogram, I think too much is made of it in pooh-poohing. Waheeda is carrying it off very well, monograms and all. Strangely, it works so well with her whole ensemble. You could look tacky in the most expensive bag (some socialites on this website), or you could look a million bucks like waheeda without busting your account.

  10. I love the look… I also like the bag… While I’m not a huge fan of monogrammed merchandise myself, I cant find fault with her look… Plus, and I have to say this, cos it’s been on my mind for a bit, it seldom is about the label/cost when it comes to style. For example, I really dont find anything that great about the Birkin (i know, shoot me!) … To me, it’s a bag that’s been marketed brilliantly, so whether someone really loves the bag or not, they’ll still buy it, ooh and ah over it, covet it… GImme a beautiful Balenciaga, a YSL muse, and a gorgeous Sisley bag I saw in the mall the other day, any time… And may I say, the Sisley bag was for, gasp!, 4000 rupees… One of the most stylish women I know carried a bag by a popular european high-street label to a meeting and it looked fabulous when hanging from her arm… The lady in question? The head of product development for Prada :-)

  11. You’re after my own heart when you wish you could age as gracefully as Waheeda Rehman. She is the epitome of grace amongst all the yesteryear ladies of B’wood.I think she looks just as great as ever here, and the bag doesn’t seem to do much harm to her whole appearance here.

As for the bag, not a fan of monograms myself, but that doesn’t mean I don’t buy the odd one here and there simply because sometimes you just love the bag design/style and can;t find same or similar non monogram version!!

She’s a lovely old lady why make such a fuss of her bag??

Totally agree with HERDISNOT and MIZMOONLIGHT”s comments!!

  15. The Sari and blouse are exactly what Sisters in my christian school used to wear, absolutely no difference what so ever. Somebody just decorated it ridiculously using a golden border.

  16. About the bag, I dont understand what difference a label makes, they always look the same to me, brands make a huge difference when it comes to clothes because its about how they fit and how they are stitched, but with bags I never understand what difference does it make whether its a $100 bag or a $1000, may be because I am a guy I dont get the bags.

  18. She is the epitome of class. I don’t think any of this generation`s bollywood actresses could come close to her as far as class and elegance is concerned. Bag or no bag.
