In Rahul Mishra

Why Vidya, why? The nearly never-changing hair on this promo tour, we’ve made peace with. But those chunky shoes? No.

In Delhi to promote her movie, Vidya picked Rahul Mishra for the outing. But between the heavy hair and heavy black heels, the look felt really weighed down. Braided hair or a low ponytail, strappy heels or a pair of jootis, and the look could’ve been a winner!

  1. Vidya simply needs to fire her stylist. To not recognize that Vidya is not tall and dress her in floor length kurti, where the pants are barely visible, is a disaster. If only the kurti was an A-line shape and shorter Vidya would have pulled off those chunky shoes. Adding a tad more color to the lips would have helped. Oh well I miss seeing her in sarees! I’ll stick to that fact that she’s a damn good actress.

  2. Have to say this is one of her better looks. She needed a churidaar and better shoes with this. Totally agree – a ponytail wouldn’t hurt either.

  3. This has got to be one of most badly put together look……hair does not work with this but what is this shalwar?trouser? why she always wear those stacked bangles with every look?Though the dress is not that bad but on vidya it is looking like a gown…and shoes? oh well..mum is the word….

  4. BW stylists are seriously the worst. I don’t think there can be any profession more lazy and less talented than these people.

At least get the clothes properly altered to fit the person! This would have worked if it was taken in slightly at the waist and shortened in length a little. Paired with stilettos, Vidya could have pulled it off and looked nice too.

Right now it looks like a potato sack lifted off a clearance rack and thrown on with hideous orthopedic shoes.

  5. my thoughts exactly. This dress is the perfect baby belly hiding dress. LOL. have to give it to her. The only thing in that outfit that is working is her attitude.
    Perfect confidence.

  6. I had to comment on Vidya. She is a beautiful, successful, confident woman and one of the best actresses we have in India at the moment and if we don’t measure her through the present day, cookie cutter fashion prism, she almost always looks very good (the one exception being her Anand Kabra look http://www.highheelconfidential.com/vidya-balan-anand-kabra-shaadi-ke-side-effects-promotions/). More power to women like Vidya who have the confidence to swim against the current. And while I know this may not be the right place to say this, it is almost sad to see that an exceptionally graceful woman like Madhuri Dixit has had to bow to the expectations of people like us and become almost a caricature of her former self in order to make a place for herself in the industry the second time over.

  7. she has to drop the stacked bangles. they make her look chunkier. her hair too is making her look chunkier. and lets not even go to her shoes. why can’t she do sleeker simpler silhouettes, with tied up hair and slim jooties or flats or even sandals. this outfit with a pair of strappy silver sandals would have added height and yet looked more graceful

  8. Has she rolled up a sleeve to highlight the bangles?!
To give her credit (barring the Anand Kabra horror) she’s been trying hard. This one by VB standards should qualify as a ‘not bad’. I think she might even get there give or take a few more movie promotions.
Having said that, Those shoes, loosely called platforms may be the doctor’s recommendation for a woman in a ‘delicate’ condition.

  9. I think that Vidya even on her own would be better off than with her current stylist. Everything is adding visual kilos – the hair, the shoes, the bangles and the trousers. All she needs is sleeker hair and simpler silhouettes – how difficult can that be considering she’s paying someone for a professional styling service.

  10. This outfit is made for tall girls like Deepika and Sonam. It’s not flattering in any means on Vidya, it just makes her look short and stout! Vidya seriously has the worst stylist in Bollywood!

  11. I have the same build as Vidya and never would I wear a tunic that has a zipped/buttoned front. It will always clutch the wrong portions. This is an awful look.

A good amount of discipline is required with this kind of build when dressing. Personally I stick to 50s silhouettes. That is it should be fitted up to the waist and then flare. This might have worked if it was so designed-without the pants. And stick to light materials not heavy fabrics like this. Her previous maxi worked for this reason.

And oh yes never ever chunky footwear. Leave it to girls with long pins.

  12. Ha ha ha. This lady can never ever look even remotely good even with a stylist. That ew hair, fugly shoes, the bad kurta (which possibly only tall slender woman can carry off) and those pondy bazaar bangles. Everything is downright wt*beep*!

  13. Vidya never fails to let us down -‘ She is inexorably consistent with her hideous dressing.’
Stacked bangles going strong even after a decade. Hand me a barf bag please

  14. Did a stylist actually get paid to create this look? Everything about it is awful. A unique look doesn’t mean you have to wear something hideous!

  15. Millions of women in India dress like this every day and yes, she’s a movie star but she has never claimed to be a fashionista and doesn’t care two hoots what we think and I say more power to her! But I must say that a few of the looks in the Shadi ke Side Effect tour that she wore seemed forced on her and I hope she continues to wear outfits she’s comfortable with regardless of what the fashion critics say!
