In Sabyasachi

It may have been another none too crisply draped Sabya sari for Vidya but she sure looked lovely at a recent event. A side braid, tiny bindi, gorgeous jhumkis and a stack of bangles (which included a Suhani Pittie ghungroo one) completed her look. We like.

  1. Vidya Balan is soo pretty and chooses good sarees. But curiously when ever I see her in sarees ,I feel that every saree over whelms her.She never ever seems at ease and comfortable…

  2. Hallelujah!! She has thrown away the black bead bracelet she always wore on her right wrist!!
I’m willing to overlook the sloppy drape just because she’s looking to pretty and happy :)

  3. the sari is lovely and vidya has a gorgeous face but the poor draping is just silly. here in london there are many indian owned beauty salons who offer sari draping services for a minimal fee.

  4. I know the majority here won’t agree, but I love it that she wears the saree like an everyday garment, not every pleat self-consciously in place, allowing the onlooker to admire what the saree does to her, rather than the saree in isolation.

    • err, women who wear sarees regularly in india rarely drape it so sloppily. from the maid to the aunty to the grandma – the saree is their daily garment, and they all wear it elegantly with the pallu pleated properly. vidya spoils the saree with her terrible pallu drape.

      • Really? I don’t think so. Most of the women I know drape it the way Vidya does…. in whatever way that makes them feel comfortable. I remember this teacher I had in school that always wore her saris the way Vidya does and all the girls used to think she had great dress sense. Then there was the teacher who always used her sari like a shawl and covered both shoulders. Anything works. It always looks pretty if you can project that you are comfortable in it. Long story short, Vidya looks comfortable and beautiful. Only air hostesses and sari shop mannequins wear perfectly draped saris.

She wears it casually instead of looking as if the pleats are almost ironed out almost. Looks lovely.
And her thick black braid looks enviably gorgeous. Bindi + Jhumkas can never go wrong with a saree.

  5. Wish I could see the front of the pallu. This drape feels like my grandma in action in the kitchen. Makes me think, any second now, Vidya will bring out the belan ;)

  6. If she was going for a “I have to rush to the kitchen, make breakfast, clean dishes, rush to office” look, she nailed it and looks good.

  7. Hope Vidya or her stylist reads this. Was watching kismet konnection last night and in the last scene where shahid is making a case for an od age home +mall,,,,Vidya looks great…LlOOKS ETHEREAL AND AWESOME…Wish she gets that hair style back….Braids here sure look nice but Kareenaesque hair and her original saree thing will sure make Vidya shine…

  8. Vidya’s messy drape wins over the strapless blouses, cleavage showing draping anyday. She looks happy and comfortable. Yay for wearing bangles!

  9. Compare this to the way Rani Mukherjee draped her black & red bagh print saree a few days back (was featured on HHC too)……Vidya Balan really should relearn how to drape her sarees elegantly. This is not nice.

  10. Her film choices (and acting chops) are so much more exciting than her on dry land… I am yawning. Yes she looks happy & beautiful. But boring and pedestrian.
