Sari Style

Wearing a beautiful navy-blue silk sari with an ikat blouse, Vidya attended a recent film festival’s closing night event. With flowers in her hair, the actor finished out the look with a matching bindi and gold-tone jewelry that included a pair jhumkis. She looked nice. That said, and as lovely as she looked, a softer updo/knot and a blouse in a different style (or heck, even with sleeves just an inch or two shorter on this) would’ve elevated the look instantly!

  1. Wow Vidya Balan looks so good here. I love that navy blue silk saree, ikkat blouse, jhumkis, bindi,
gajra and the hair is also neatly done. I will give a 10/10. I sincerely appreciate her for dressing up nicely. There is nothing wrong in wearing sarees all the time Vidya. Just keep on rocking the sarees.

  3. In love with this saree. She wears it really well too. She’s mentioned a few times how she’s battling some health issues (hormonal) so I can only imagine how tough it must feel to step out in the limelight and open yourself to receive scathing remarks on her appearances. Props to her for wearing that smile, oodles of personality and supporting a great initiative such as MAMI.

  4. She looks so gorgeous, I didn’t even notice the arm-crook ;-)

But seriously, how amazing does she look? The color of the saree, and her makeup, all of it is just perfect.

  5. I love her in saree that is wonderful. She gives the vibe of how most women wear saree in india on festivals. She is representing india at MAMI. So apt appearance for event. One of a person who is graceful in saree. I may differ in opinion with most people but not always wearing sexiest blouse just for sake of being in fashion forward league is only criteria for not appreciating the elegance of saree with traditional blouse. Well done vidya…

  6. I have seen same people who are defending Vidya Balan now, bashing Shilpa Shetty, Aishwarya Rai and Katrina Kaif with the same intensity Vidya gets bashed normally. If Vidya Balan shouldn’t be bashed, Shilpa Shetty and Aishwarya Rai also shouldn’t be bashed. Same rules apply to Vidya Balan, Shilpa Shetty and Aishwarya Rai on this blog. Shilpa and Ash are moms, they have their own issues.

    • What????!!! What’s the point of dragging other people into this one?! Haha… And Shilpa almost always looks gorgeous and everyone swoons over her figure! And Ash has the most gorgeous face ever, with occasionally not-so-great choices of outfits for herself…which too is alright, and hence debatable here at a fashion website forum! so no point rallying up against this supposed-bias on their behalf! Let’s just stick to Vidya and her lovely saree here… :)

      • My comment was directed to the person who was saying Vidya gets bashed a lot. And not to anyone else. All of you are in my friends list, no worries. :)

P.S And I have no intention of bashing Vidya, and I am not Vidya hater.

        • Haha!!! You are cute, Sapphire. I am sure you have been reading HHC for long, ain’t these people the usual hypocrites who will voice for Vidya Balan but will bash many others in the same way which they were so against of. It is normal out here. No one can deny about Shilpa & her fabulous body, which for me makes any piece of even stupid clothing work. Aishwarya is one gorgeous face who has gained world popularity and has worked with great directors and actors making her a much accomplished lady. Luck or whatever people choose to call. I am not a fan of Vidya Balan’s acting (I mean there are SO many women who acts so much better so I don’t get this silly argument- she is a good actor so she should be given lenience) and her dressing sense has always been pretty pathetic even if she had a stylist. Period. Happy Diwali!

          • Haha… I love you Adara!! I have been following this blog from 2008 ever since it started. I must be a very loyal reader of this blog following from past 9 years.
By the way P&P, I love you guys too. Thank you for preserving/allowing my freedom of expression/speech on Kiran’s post. Appreciate it. :)

Adara, the way some people think of you on your comments on Vidya, I think of the same about this person on her comments on Shilpa and Ash. Yes I love Shilpa and Ash a lot for their beauty, their accomplishments and the way they have conducted themselves gracefully from the past 25 years.

  7. The stunning beauty in saree. I may differ with many that only sexy blouse could make this attire good look ,when i think of saree this type of blouse is what i see first. She is at MAMI perfect event to wear traditional saree in indian way. I love this saree on her wont even think of changing a thing about this look. Well done vidya..

  8. This is unnecessary picking! Vidya normally does softer ‘up do/knots’ and her hairstyle here is actually looking different and prettier…especially with the flowers. And really just how much of a difference would an inch-less-on-the-sleeves do to the style or the look of the blouse?! ? She is looking lovely and gorgeous as is….. Love the saree and the blouse and the hair ! Like I said, just unnecessary picking!
Just give the lady her due when it’s done right! …:)
