Sari Style

Dressed-down, dressed-up… Which of Vidya Balan’s recent sari appearances was your favorite?

We were pleasantly surprised by her look in the purple sari at the Star Guild Awards. Is that a different style of blouse that we (finally) spot on her? Baby steps! ;) The blouse may not be our cup of tea but we do appreciate the fact that she changed things up however teeny tiny a change it may be! Besides, she looked great in that purple Sabya sari!

  1. Vidya looks beautiful in the purple sari! and the change however subtle is a welcome sight and hope the momentum on changes keeps building up and completes the full power house she is/can be (inner beauty / talent / non-monotonous outer beauty)

  2. While I love traditional/old school sarees, I think dressed down look makes her look grandma-ish. She looks lovely in purple, although I dont think the blouse works..would have pick an orange in a short sleeve/sleeveless. I am, like you, glad about the baby steps! :-)

  3. The first saree is a Muslin. The finest silk, India’s heart fabric. She could have worked her up with a better blouse. The blouse for purple saree looks tacky so does the saree. We should look deeper into our own heritage for rich fabrics and sarees rather than always sticking to georgette and crepes. And some people(like vidya here) have indigenous traditional features and earthy, rustic clothes enhance it. We leave no bone left to pick when she ‘changes up’ wearing morbid western clothes and now that she is rocking our ole sarees like nobody can we have a monotony issue. That said, i wonder why doesn’t she wear long flowy gowns, that’s gonna make her look oh-so-fabulous.
