In FabIndia
As she jetted out of Mumbai, Kangana was photographed in a FabIndia sari at the airport. Shades in place, Birkin in tow, the actor finished out the look with a pair of suede oxfords. I will admit, the choice of shoes did throw me off, but the sari more than makes up for it. Love it!

Love the whole look, except for the shoes.
Shoes aside; to me, this is highly uncomfortable to wear when I travel. Even my forever saree wearing mom refrains from them while flying. This is one more of Kangana’s impractical airport looks in my book. But who am I to judge? Apparently, she was headed to Kerala on vacation and she wanted to feel at home when she landed. ?
Because in Kerala everyone wears a saree? Judging while not, I think? And by flying, did you think she was going to flap her hands in an attempt to take off? She has to sit in one place and let trained pilots do their job and a saree is pretty darn comfortable outfit for that.
Hansini, the last part was a joke with an emoji which didn’t display when the message was displayed. I think I stated this clearly, it’s not comfortable for ME; it might be for you and you can certainly wear one while traveling and think it’s appropriate attire. In general, I am not a fan of Kangana’s elaborate and forced airport looks but that doesn’t mean folks won’t like them. There clearly are people who do. Let’s be real, we are here to look at a celebrity’s pictures and judge their look/fashion/stylist; so let’s not make it to be much more than that. Please be civil and agree to disagree.
Nicely put.
LOL @ “And by flying, did you think she was going to flap her hands in an attempt to take off? She has to sit in one place and let trained pilots do their job and a saree is pretty darn comfortable outfit for that. “
Although you don’t mean to condescend your comment sounds condescending to someone who wears Sari day in & day out as well as to someone who is from Kerala ( I am not even sure why you felt the need to mention it)… yes airport looks maybe forced but this does not look forced to me. Is there a thumb rule that says you can’t wear a saree on a plane? While I (you or your mom) might not be comfortable wearing one to someone else it might me.
Nicely put Neharika.
As I said, it might be completely comfortable to you; I don’t wear sarees on a daily basis. Heck, I might wear them once an year and to me; it’s not something I would travel in. But more power to you if you pull that off! Additionally, the reason for the comment about Kerala is I purchased a similar gorgeous looking saree there and several of my friends own similar traditional weaves. I love my sarees but they are not going to become comfortable travel attire for me. But you have a different opinion and that is fine. I am unsure what is condescending there except we disagree about this look and potentially Kangana’s style. We both have rights to opinions and while I appreciate your comment, I don’t appreciate the negative connotations you have inferred.
First thought was, why is she so dressed up for a flight? Then I thought, that’s a normal saree! Many women wear sarees daily, including my mom! Funny how it’s become the norm for me to think of a saree as a very dressy attire! She looks fab, love Kangana! Juttis would’ve been a cuter footwear choice!
That was so nicely put.
Very true. Agree with you.
Shoes aside, she is slaying it.
lol.
But this is totally a travel attire i can get on board with !! I see working women wearing sarees and looking all classy in airports. Such sarees elude a sense of a class for me.
Agree with this. I got reminded of the elegant lady I saw at Delhi airport who was wearing a crisp, buttercup yellow sari. Sari goals!
J’ adore! Love love love this look. She looked great, the sari is beautiful and wearing a traditional outfit for traveling shouldn’t come under scanner just because wearing a sari feels dressed up for most of us.
+1
She actually looks pretty comfortable and carries the sari well.
I love this sari.
The shoes are saree are poles apart and look rather stupid paired together.
‘And’ saree
I love her , she looks superb.
The shoes look similar to Aldos I had years ago.

Haha-love it! Glad to see you here!
I for one like the look- shoes included. This is a travel look. She looks comfortable and the shoes add funk. Who said saree has to be worn with sandals. Unless u treat it as a costume it can be worn with anything.
she looks good but that birkin shape is off….8 lakhs one has to pay for this bag which is soo bland….mmmm
Desi quirky is laced up shoes and sarees, I’d say ! Genuinely high fashion.
Indira Gandhi comes to my mind looking at that sari.
+1 exactly
She looks amazing. I actually think the oxfords are cute quirky add. What a fabulous saree, Maheshwari is my guess…
Chanderi, I think
Yes,you are right. Probably Chanderi silk. Maheshwari would be a thinner, more translucent.
She is gliding in that lovely saree. Love the simplicity + sophistication of the entire look.
love it. as someone who’s been wearing a lot of sarees of late, it’s always been on my bucket list to wear one while travelling — and yay, it happened. it’s just an garment, people — let’s not exoticize it.
Love this look except for the bag.
OMG…SHE LOOKS SUPER NICE!!!
She looks so comfy sporting it and super stylish too…love this look.
Pure love
I personally like the shoes with the saree. It look good and is obviously much more comfortable! With so much experimentation happening with the saree, why not these shoes as well :)
Love
Love it ….. shows and all …. they’re quirky . If we forced to digest some really weird sari drapes and styles …. this is nothing . She looks awesome
Well sometimes celeb travel few hrs from one city to another
I think this was a perfect choice she looked so lovely !!
Love – oxfords and saree sonam has also done before ! I think it’s u we cool!
That saree is loveee. And Kangana looks so graceful in it.
love the look, best of all the look is completed with a smile XX
She looks great. Love the earthy, simple saree.
Heart the look! It’s so simple and elegant. She looks fab.
Love this. She looks good!
Love the saree. During my recent trip to India, nobody said a word when I wore shorts and dresses. However, when I wore a simple saree for everyday wear, I had a million people asking me the same question with the same tone of complete shock – “why are you wearing a saree”. My response was, “why shouldn’t I?”
I am still trying to make sense of this. The saree has been worn by generations of Indian women and even today, it is worn by women from all walks of life including surgeons, teachers and CEOs. Sure, women are free to wear whatever they like, but why is wearing a saree outside of a wedding considered such a shocking thing ? I would actually wear sarees more often but I get tired of answering the “why are you wearing a saree” question
Btw, love the shoes. THey seem practical for traveling. I have gorgeous aunts who totally rocked the saree plus shoes look when playing tennis and those same ladies paired hand knitted turtle neck sweaters with sarees and looked like a million bucks
I love this look including the shoes! Grateful to folks who are keeping the sari alive and vibrant.
Fabulous
She looks so beautiful and elegant! It’s fab!
i for one love the shoe sari pairing, so unique and fashion forward!
love the look AND the shoes. Its a very retro look, especially with the oxfords. Quirky and very politician princess – and I need to be comfortable when I stride through my jagir, these shoes are handmade in London, darling – just a cigarett with a long holder is missing!
did anyone else think after seeing the shoes that she might actually change in flight?
Like, take off the sari and relax in tights?
