The hunt for …

Mary Janes! The shoe that became a legend with just one appearance on Sex and the City. “I thought these were an urban shoe myth!” shrieked Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) in “A ‘Vogue’ Idea” on Sex and the City. I am sure, like me, a lot of women must have rushed out to acquire a pair of their own. Unfortunately, reality kicked in when I found out that these exquisite shoes sell for $555 retail. This time it was my turn to shriek and do a double take..”Excuse me.. They cost how much! cough cough”, and right there and then my dream ended. I resolved myself to a fate of buying only shoes that were $100 or less and life went on.

Now I had forgotten all about these until a few nights ago when I caught a rerun of the same SATC episode on TV. This time I decided to search for alternatives and started hunting online for a cheaper version that had all the trademarks of the original but that wouldn’t break the bank.

After surfing for what seemed like hours and hours, I finally found it! And at $109.95, my find is a major major steal!

Check it out.. Can you even make out the difference?? These Steve Madden Vyxens are so close to the original. Patent with pencil heels and even pointed toes. Sweeeet! There is a god and he really really loves me!

Steve Madden Vyxen for $109.95

I also found these other Mary Jane styles but they do not even come close to the Steve Madden.

Aldo Duncana for $80.00

Nine West Lehana for $79.00

This aint close but I am liking the block heels.

J Crew Leather Mary Janes for $198

P.S. You can buy the original Manolo Blahnik Patent Leather Mary Jane in Black here
