In Prabal Gurung

Stylist Rachel Zoe was front row for Prabal’s Spring 2011 collection and being that she is good friends with Kate, it is no surprise to see Kate be the first to wear from the designer’s latest collection. But, did she do justice to this dress? That would be a resounding “No.

It’s not the awkward length of the dress that bothers us as much as the bed-head hair. Disappointed.

PFW Spring 2011: Manish Arora

We weren’t too impressed with his Fall 2010 collection but Mr. Arora sure came back with a bang for his Spring one. Fierce was the first thing on our mind as soon as we saw the gold exoskeletal-like applique work on jackets, skirts and leggings. Adding fun to the collection were the car headgears and car-print sandals.

Calling Lady Gaga. Manish Arora’s Spring collection has just arrived and it’s got your name written all over it!

Catch all runway pics here.

In Armani

When it comes to Velvet, the Bachchans sure can’t stay away for long, can they?

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan wore wide-legged velvet trousers that she paired with a silk jacket while taking in the Armani anniversary show at the ongoing Milan Fashion Week. She kept the accessories minimal and make-up fresh, but that was just about the only thing we can laud about this look. The outfit was much too severe and ages her dramatically. The look would’ve been perfect for someone older but on Aishwarya, it just didn’t work. There had be better Armani outfits that she could’ve chosen for herself. Or just a slimmer fitting suit à la Elisabetta Canalis.

P.S: Someone do us a favor and introduce Ms. Bachchan to Roland Mouret, Victoria Beckham Collection and L’wren Scott to begin with. We are hankering for a change. Conservative doesn’t have to be matronly.

NYFW Spring 2011: Naeem Khan

Evening-wear and more evening-wear. Naeem Khan’s collection played (in a rather flamboyant manner) with nudes, florals, beaded embroideries and enough shimmer to keep the magpies in us happy. Styled on the runway in his wife Ranjana Khan’s jewelry, the gowns were glamorous, the cocktail dresses were chic and the caftans were yatch-and-champagne ready.

Which way to the Riviera?

P.S: The nude strapless gown (extreme left, bottom row) and the white beaded number (second from the left, second row) practically scream Michelle Obama.

NYFW Spring 2011: Bibhu Mohapatra

More power to the Indian designers; may their tribe grow! :)

Bibhu’s recently shown collection was beautiful, feminine and essentially for that girly-girl.

After working with Halston and J.Mendel, Bibhu Mohapatra started working on his own label creating custom couture evening gowns and cocktail dresses for select clientele. The F.I.T graduate has since established his own label and this was his second showing.

Evening-wear and cocktail dresses dominated the collection and my absolute favorite was the blue-and-black tulle gown (first row, extreme right). Can’t wait to spot it on a red carpet!
