I struggled for a bit whether this review should be about just the clothes or the showstopper. On one hand, clothes should be the main subject but when the showstopper is sent out in a god-awful gown that doesn’t fit right with ghastly black clogs, how can one ignore. That is what happened when Rohit Verma walked down the runway for designer Krishna Mehta’s collection inspired by the musical ‘Irma La Douce’. Not only was what he wore hideous but his constant posing at the end of the runway took all attention away from the collection. A far cry from the graceful Queen Harish for Lecoanet-Hemant.
As for the collection, it was presented as a mix and match one marked by separates like jackets with dresses, tops with shorts/capri pants in abstract prints served up in cotton, silk and some velvet. Some of the separates (like the tie/dye jacket eyed by Shraddha Kapoor and the tie/dye shorts and dresses) stood out but most others (like the dresses) were very seen-it-before.
