Wearing Rohit Bal, Sonam Kapoor helped inaugurate an exhibition in Mumbai yesterday. With flowers in her hair and a bindi in place, the actor finished out the look with jewelry from Sunita Kapoor and NeedleDust jootis.

There’s no one better than the statuesque Ms. Kapoor to pull off the volume heavy Rohit Bal floor-sweeping anarkalis. And yet, as perfect as the look was on paper, it felt lacking. While the updo may have been intended to balance out the volume, it made the look seem rather mature. Had she instead opted for a softer, wispier updo, sans the flowers and bindi, it would’ve been just the kind of soft, feminine look Sonam does so well. Not to mention, more youthful.

For a recent appearance, Tabu kept it fairly in Sabyasachi. Aside from the jewelry, Needledust jootis finished out the look. This look can’t be faulted but for that heavy-handed use of bronzer… Such a bummer!
