We’d been waiting eagerly for the Spring 2013 Marchesa presentation ever since we saw their moodboard here that hinted at an Indian theme. The collection didn’t disappoint one bit. Dresses that used brocade fabric were left simple and free of embellishment and likewise heavily beaded dresses were kept simple at the fabric level. Subtle use of draping inspired by saris, separates resembling lehangas and churidaars-suit ensembles dominated.

We wouldn’t blame you for drawing parallels to the Chanel Pre-fall 2012 collection or for that matter Dior’s Fall 2009 collection, but we think Marchesa brought its own voice to the collection, one that we liked.

Tarina looked pretty great in her Marchesa. Except, pairing that dress with those shoes was a shame. It was uninspired and brought the look down a notch or two.

It was another black glittery gown/red lips look for Sonam, this time in Dubai at an event for Nirav Modi Jewellery. We don’t quite like the overdose of the earrings and the necklace and considering she managed to get the right balance at the IIJW event, can’t help but wonder why the misstep here.

Toronto, Hamptons, London and now Abu Dhabi. Freida has been quite busy promoting Miral but we are not complaining one bit. Because every appearance of hers means a sighting of the latest creations from the biggest fashion houses. For her Abu Dhabi appearance, Freida wore a pink Resort 2011 Marchesa gown with a mirrored bodice that she complemented with a gold clutch and gold heels. Love that she went jewelery-less to let the gown do the talking.
