In Manish Malhotra

Comment image 30

At the Kohli-Sharma reception, Sridevi was photographed in a Manish Malhotra sari. Wearing her hair up, she rounded out the look with smokey eyes and some serious bling from Gems and Jewels Palace. That necklace, whoa!

Neither a fan of the sari, nor of the jewelry. But trust Sridevi to make the combination work for her.

  1. Im sorry but this is very saas/bahu serial type dressing and especially the makeup has been slathered on with a spade. I can’t tell where the necklace ends and the blouse starts. It all looks like one solid piece of armor

  2. It’s ridiculous how Manish Malhotra pushes celebs to wear his clothes. So weird how almost everyone is wearing his stuff and half of it isn’t even good. Is it because he got nervous that Sabyasachi brand would get a lot of attention?
Kriti & Vaani in almost ditto saris, Aishwarya & Richa, Kat & her sis, over- embellished Sridevi’s sari , Kat & her sis with weird costumy skirts, seriously MM. Please stop. MM- you’re destroying your brand by over selling. Less is more. Choose few influential people at a party and dress them in different styles to show your variety than the same old glitter on glitter. Create an elite brand value than a mass dressing occasion. Honestly, despite all the over display of MM clothes amongst the guests, best dressed was Kangana Ranaut. Here’s to hoping a wiser dressing sense in 2018.

    • Sari but sorry. ” Manish pushes celebrities to wear his clothes” . The comments in this blog are lame and petty. While we can see your thoughts behind it, we can’t really close out on the fact that MM has been in the scene much longer and with a trusted clientele than Sabyasachi with relation to Bollywood. For whatever worth it is, you can’t just brush off the fact that MM is a reckoning force. Like SRK, you can hate or love him, but you can’t ignore him. I also don’t get the overly praise for Sabya, I have seen some worse wear from his stable too. If celebrities choose MM over Sabyasachi, probably that is what they feel is worth their money.

      • Who is ‘we’ ?
No one is contesting that MM has been in the scene much longer. But having every celebrity dress in his clothes wearing overlapping designs (off the shoulder, over the top glitter, having multiple ppl look like they copied each other, bling on bling) was strange. And non-Bollywood India doesn’t care about status of designers. They care about what they see, and they didn’t like the MM designs they saw. He’s a very talented man, no one’s attacking him personally or even want to. Don’t go overboard on dressing everyone. Choose limited clients, choose different styles for clients so you don’t look like a one trick pony. Think that’s what people are trying to say in almost every post about an MM dress. X

      • I dont agree with you buddy. Someone in the scene longer should have better sense than to destroy his own brand creating more and more outlandish ugly clothes.
His clothes could very well rival a costume store that rents clothes by the hour.
Celebs dont buy his clothes. So no point of u talking about the worth of their money here.
From the way hes lent his clothes to all those celebs, i think he went into overdrive to make sure the entire crowd wore him – however repetitive and ugly just because the bride chose Sabya over him. Shows his insecurity.

  3. what is it with these celebrities these days ? where are the manners ? how can you be so damn overdressed that you look like youre trying to upstage the bride on wedding day / reception ! For heaven sake ladies, yes you can afford it, yes you can wear it, but at least show some good manners when youre trying to go to wish a new bride well in her new life ! Please let teh bride be the centre of attention that day !
    phew !

    • Totally agree. Except the bit about these celebrities being able to afford it. All these clothes are dumped on them for free by MM and they don’t have to pay for them. In fact HE might be even paying them to wear his clothes.

Seriously, is Sridevi even close to the bride and groom? She’s probably just been invited as part of the fraternity but thinks she can dress like this because she’s a celebrity. Bizarre.

  4. Beautiful face. Whole heartedly agree because it is Sridevi this garish sari look is working. The jewels are gorgeous. Hoping she would wear it on some other ocassion with a toned down sari to show it off in excellence.

  5. Did MM just join some Kashmiri shawl and make a sari out of it? How ugly does that shawl start from Sridevis hip?
The color works. And only because its sridevi. Sorry the rest looks too tv serial n local darzi trying to be mod.

  6. Wasn’t there anything left that sridevi could throw on? She has applied make up in buckets , worn what looks like two sarees down into one and enough jewellery to put Jodha Akbar to shame!
    Less IS more!

    • Less is definitely not more for Sridevi and we know that already…but wish she had toned it down a few notches for someone else’s wedding.

  7. I read some peoples’ comments on another post that Kangana’s blouse/look is “forced it on” , “stuffy”etc. Vs Sridevi who who can beat any of the younger lot in the saree game. Now that I see this look on Sridevi makes me wonder whose look is more stuffy, to ver-the-tops. Seriously it looks like an armour from the sets of Baahubali

  8. I hate the saree, the jewelry seems to be “Padmavati” inspired and definitely too much. But somehow she is making it work. Call me biased if you will – but on anyone else this could have been atrocious. Manish Malhotra should be paying her for making his atrocious clothes look somewhat ok.

  10. Who else feels like this was each guest’s wedding reception?!! So OTT outfits for most Bollywood celebrities. At least some of the cricketer’s wives were dressed for a friend’s wedding reception!

    • yes! i saw lot of cricketer’s wives and non filmy guests more aptly dressed for the occasion than the bolly celebs with all thier stylists and hair and makeup team

  11. I think Sridevi and most of the Bollywood tribe have successfully managed to upstage the bride. There comes a stage where you go from critiquing fashion to critiquing lack of etiquette. This post calls for that. I know Sridevi gets a free pass on these pages but this is really sad…she has more make up and bling on than the bride herself.

  12. This is one ghastly saree and Sridevi is so overdressed as always…MM should seriously retire now. Almost everyone except Rekha, Madhuri and Kangana turned up in their tackiest best for Virushka wedding.

  13. Just because someone is a movie star does not mean that they forget all dressing-up etiquette and turn up in OTT jewels and blingy clothes from head to toe. It’s someone’s wedding reception in the ‘real world’, not a movie shoot. I’m shocked how these movie stars dress up at someone’s wedding. Why must they borrow free clothes and jewellery and have stylists do them up – why can’t they wear their own stuff. This is a personal invite for a friends and family celebration and some respect must be shown to the bride.

Payal and Priyanka have a massive voice in steering the fashion scene in Bollywood. Designer bags, Airport looks, Stylists etc have all become a huge thing mainly because of the exposure through this blog. I wish they would voice against this lack of etiquette so that stars turn up as more ‘real people’ at personal occasions.

  14. Whoa, that’s a necklace? I initially thought it was embroidery on the blouse. Ghastly saree, and why did she have to choose that necklace?
This saree must be listed as the worst sightings of 2017. Maybe these celebrities have no say at all and have to wear whatever is sponsored or maybe the designers and stylists make them climb ‘chane k ped’ (bloating them with false praises) that they just wear anything. Or they attend so many events and functions that it doesn’t matter.
