Sari Style

At the Raw Mango store launch, Sonam was seen in a white Raw Mango sari which she paired with a striped black and white round neck blouse that also featured a belt. Wearing her hair in a faux bob to showcase the gorgeous Amrapali necklace and ear cuff, she finished out her look with her Mark Cross box bag and a customary red lip.

Did she look good? Absolutely.
Do I wish though that she’d gone for a look that felt more effortless and lot less styled. Yes. Yes. Yes.

  1. She looks pretty face wise but idk why this reminds me of a South Indian man wearing a lungi, hand towel draped over his shoulder holding a briefcase. Sorry, I can’t help but laugh Lolll.

    • Spot on comment! Only thing, it’s not a lungi ( that’d be the multicolored one with whirls and swirls) , this is a dhoti/veshti.
Can’t unsee the man with his briefcase!

    • Hahahaha. So true. But like zoyi mentioned, its not a lungi. It is called Mundu in Malayalam & Veshti in Tamil equivalent of a dhoti. Lungi the colored/patterned ones are actually from Myanmar. And its not just south Indians I have noticed it on, seen my Gujju & Bong friends’ dads wear them as well. Also the material/pattern is more of a thorthu (towel) from Kerala. Lol.

  2. She looks good because she is good looking – that has nothing to do with the look. The look is ridiculous. Especially after looking at the lovely sarees on others, I wish she had picked something like that and for once gone for simple and effortless yet striking, because I feel that is the aesthetic of Raw Mango.

    • im actually not sure if its whitewashed makeup or just the flash? her arms look so pale too – unless these people also paint the arms?

  4. I came across a photoshoot pic of hers today on instagram in this exact same look … same hair, same makeup, same jewels … so she probably walked in here directly from the shoot. Can’t remember for the life of me if it was a mua’s page or jeweller’s … but sure wasn’t amrapali’s page …

    • It wasn’t a shoot. She has started taking posting pics of her outfits before she steps out for the event. They are shared by her make-up/hair artists as well as Rhea.

        • Which is why Anoushka, you are not Sonam Kapoor! … your day’s events are way more different than hers…obviously you are not gonna put so much efforts to your random day events…plus even if you do, i doubt that you’d succeed!…so chill out!

          • Ha ha ha ha. Agreed, Jes. Comparing one’s life or daily activity to that of a celebs is comparing apples to oranges. EVERYONE in the industry are bound to compete at the extreme (though some just of the celebs pretend as if they dont care lol) to survive on top. Fame & fortune doesnt come easy. ;-)

  5. I think this is a good way of styling the plain white saree. The saree otherwise looks like a dhoti. Her make-up once again lets her down though.

  6. Really curious to know if this was inspired by the outfits that Nazrani grandmothers wear. There’s the difference in colour scheme, but other than that, the separates look very similar.

  7. This is actually funny…compared to the other ladies at the event who dressed up looking so elegant in sarees, Sonam looks a caricature and that briefcase…is absolute horrot. I like her with short hair though.
