Over the weekend, we saw Ms. Kapoor do two very striking looks. She arrived back to Mumbai and was seen at the airport wearing a Nabil Nayal oversized shirt with Rheson leggings and boots and then at the We The Women Summit, she sported a Jacquemus black suit with a Rheson bag.
If the white shirt reminded you of those old barrister outfits from way back then, it should, because the designer is known to draw inspiration from Elizabethan era. Having said that though, as much as I love the shirt, it did feel a bit too much for travelling. But then, if I got that shirt, I’d probably wear it immediately too!
Coming to her panel discussion appearance, I was super excited to finally see a Jacquemus sighting on these pages and while she looked nice, I wish she’d gone for a loose fit on the pants like the runway version. Having said that though, yet again, I came off feeling that the outfit just felt a bit much for the event.

i’m a barrister and i can confirm that we still wear such attire – along with a white wig and black cape.
The first one is the ‘judge saab’ version of the sumo wrestling blow up costume.
I think it’s over and out for Sonam! This is a serious case of delusion..she is actually taking herself way too seriously and coming up with one monstrousity after the other. How is her style relevant to India? How can she come up with such hideous dressing and get away with it just because everyone in Bollywood and fashion circles keep praising her? Gosh! For the sake of your site, pls stop featuring her and her stupid outfits!
I agree whole kindheartedly! of course she is not dressing for India, she is dressing for herself. But to be featured and then supported by HHC as stylish is beyond incredulous. She looks like a joke in both outfits… let’s feature smart/sassy/suave men and women please.
Guys! When I meant India, I meant weather wise…somehow wrong choice of words from my end. That comment was in no way meant to speak of culture. There are so many fashion forward women who wear really event appropriate outfits, and Sonam is not one of them. No doubt she is stylish but her clothes are never event appropriate. About this airport look, I can bet she wore this only for the paparazzi and would’ve changed it the minute she got Away from the cameras.
Her or anybody else’s sense of style need not be ‘relevant’ to any country. One may not agree with what somebody wears, but to question its relevance to a country is as silly as somebody questioning anything outside of their comfort zone or modesty code, for eg. say even a pair of jeans.
These look are not relevant to the planet let alone India! In her mind and to her suck-ups she is very “fashion forward”…but to the rest of the saner world she looks like a dumb clown in both these outfits. Bollywood and fashion circles not calling her out on this is a case of Emperors new clothes
featuring is ok.. lets put them up n let them know public take on the chosen ‘fashion’.
Why should her looks be India appropriate weather or whatever..when she can afford them not to be. She is not the spokesperson for practical wearable fashion. Whoever said fashion needs to be practical! You wear your weather appropriate event appropriate looks in your limited social environment. With her social status she can affords to ignore practicality.
And just because her outings are not aesthetically pleasing TO YOU, she should be excuse me “banned’ from this website?! What are you the fashion wing of the Karni Sena?

Some fashion looks better in editorials or at red carpets. The reason we get Sonam fatigue is because she brings exaggerated style to each and every outing. Its just in-rhesonable ;)

I think that Sonam has a problem in understanding the difference between being fashionably dressed and being well-dressed. There are occasions (like Cannes or other high-profile high-fashion events) when it pays off taking fashion risks, and on these occasions I look forward to see what Sonam’s wearing. It’s usually exciting and event-appropriate and often memorable. BUT, whenever it’s a regular occasion, say travelling or a relatively low-key event, she often (not always) ends up in the “bit too much” OTT category. I wonder why. Would make an interesting psychological study!
You said it ! I was wondering the same. It must be so exhausting to put so much effort into every outfit she wears. It may be fashion forward but it’s so uncool !
I’ll tell you why . Coz she desperately wants to stand out from everyone else and get noticed. Now that everyone has upped their game ( what with stylists and all) she resorts to outlandish outfits to get noticed . Simple psychology

the word EXTRA is what i now associate with sonam. She’s in a race to add Designers to her worn list. Theres no personal touch to the outfits at all. She grabs them from the runway and puts them on. The event and occasion are never taken into consideration. ANd that, my friends, is why i do not consider her a true fashion icon.

As someone from the legal fraternity, makes me slightly irked to see such inspired pieces of clothing that are based on attires that have significant cultural significance and that is only earned after a lots of…trials and tribulations you could say. Not things I think you should be meddling with. They are not costumes.
First look can be used as a Scare crow but theirs no rhyme or rheason for the second one.
The white shirt is novel. But it’s not interesting, well-conceptualized or well-executed. An important part of being fashion forward is the ability to discern whether a outfit will sit harmoniously on your body, or whether it will just look odd.
I understand that Sonam is someone who wants to be different all the time, but should being different equate letting go of vision, balance, and – if I may say it – taste?
She does all these things once in a while so that she’s spared from all evil eyes. :-D

Really like the outfit she has on at the airport, love the sleeves and the details of the shirt. I think Sonam makes a striking figure, accessories and styling complimenting the look. I love Jacquemus, just not this one on her.
Sorry but it looks like if she flaps her arms hard enough she could take off!
