In Masaba

Never one to shy away from trying new things, Sonam wore a Masaba denim look last night to Vikas Bahl’s birthday party that was rather inneresting!

While Rhea called the look a denim sari, to me, it just looked like boxy pants, a crop top and a denim scarf/shawl worn as a dupatta. But, then who am I to rename the Mona Lisa? :P

Coming back to Ms. Kapoor, once I tell myself that it is not quite a sari, think of it as separates, I don’t mind it. She makes it work for her. I’d probably tell others to stay away from doing the drape style. What did you think of this look?

    • Also, there’s a “detailed” shot on IG where Rhea shows us the denims actually have pockets – Agree completely that it just looks like rehashed separates

  1. first time ever i liked something designed by masaba. it still has its finishing issues like always. but it is an interesting take on separate/ sari/ denim.

  2. I feel like I’m witnessing a miracle. This outfit is one CRAZY combo but I’ll be damned if she doesn’t look like a gazillion rupees (pre-demonetization). I don’t know how she does it. This is definitely her superpower.

  4. 1. Payal. This post. This analysis. Exactly why we visit HHC. It came after a long time. But it is what you guys think of a fashion look that put the comments in frenzy with opinions and advices. Loved the post.
    2. As for the look I couldn’t agree more. There have been other designers doing far more interesting work with recycled denim. Yes it not a ‘denim saree’ a term pushed in our faces rather than us guaging it. It’s Sonam. She experiments. She does look great. As for Masaba. Love her innovative marketing strategies.

  5. Interesting. I don’t see this as a saree but an amalgamation of some recent trends. But what struck me is how unflattering this would look if one were to walk in it.

  6. Sonam can pretty much carry off anything.
I absolutely love her eye makeup though. It’s a great change of pace from the heavy eyes that Sonam sports.
