In 3.1 Phillip Lim or Vizyon?

Comment image 52

Although Ms. Kapoor tweeted she was wearing a Vizyon sequin jacket dress, we could swear on our wardrobes that she had on the 3.1 Phillip Lim sequin dress.

A mis-ID by Sonam or did Vizyon just make an exact replica of the sequin jacket dress? We’ll clarify and update y’all.

Update from Sonam: “@HHCGuiltFree it was vizyon, a lot of designers sent me outfits for promotion and this is one of the new designers.. It looks a lot like the philip lim!! Hmmmm..” Ditto on the Hmmm!

Another update: From what we know from our LFW trip is that Vizyon is a design house that gets international designers to design a line for them like the Ninon Palisse one from the recent LFW. Net-a-Porter is a store that houses different designers but in the end the brand name doesn’t change. If the outfit label says Vizyon, then will be considered a Vizyon and not a 3.1 Phillip Lim.

  1. She looks great and I love the dress. I just wish she realized that powder under her eyes is excess and is extremely evident. Some one called me nit picky for pointing it out previously but I just cannot help but get distracted by it.
Also her footwear is bad here. I read somewhere that her sis Rhea has anamazing collection of shoes. Time to dip into that collection Sonam.

  2. wooohhhooo! what a confusion! wonder who really desighned & who stole the idea! sounds a lot like Inception to me ;p! coming to the dress. I liked it. loved that she paired it with black, don’t like the shoe though. she is looking pretty.

  3. from an aesthetics point of view, if you have chunky legs its an absolute no no to pair a short shift dress with flats. they’ll only look more stumpy!!
so ladies please if that you, hike it up with a pair of heels & do us all a favor!

    • August20 and P&P,

If you believe that stumpy legs are not aesthetically pleasing, well, that might be your opinion and that’s fine. But to proclaim to everyone with stumpy legs (i suspect this group would include the majority of women) that *they* are being inconsiderate to others by not making an effort to make their legs look less stumpy is plain offensive. P&P, you say that you do not accept comments based on one’s body type and I assume that it is because you dont want to offend people of any body type. I love you guys for that! In the same spirit, I suggest that you delete comments which seek to police bodies of certain types.

      • fashion outsider,
We get your point of view. But, there is a thin line between calling someone fat/big/huge vs suggesting that this looks better on someone.

We don’t think August20 crossed that line. It is still a generalization. It’s the same kind of suggestions we make too when we say wearing a high ankle sandal can make legs look stumpy. Believe us there are other comments in this thread that haven’t been approved which cross that line.

This is a forum and that’s why your comment is also approved because you make a good point in your answer. :)

        • I guess where you think one crosses the line is subjective. But so is what one consider’s to be “best looking”. But hey, it *is* your blog! But as a bunch of fashion conscious women, this is a GREAT forum to get ourselves to love our bodies. That’s all! ;)

        • Thank you for the vote of confidence of Payal! and ‘fashion outsider’ lets not be a hater here and keep it about the fashion. short, tall, fair, dark, skinny, big..its all about aesthetics and keeping it fabulous at the end of it all. peace out!

I dont think the comment was offensive at all. I for one, have slim legs, I dont have the lovely calf muscles that some women have. So I have to make sure my shirts/ shorts or dresses are atleast 3-4 inches above knee level to balance things out. If my clothes are cut off at the knee my legs look too thin.

In the same way at the comment above, Sonams legs would look the best if her clothes cut off at the knee (like the dark blue Dior dress) or if she wore heels. You have to agree that Sonams legs arent her best feature.

    • Her legs look normal, and they are actually on the thinner side. Legs look fine, the outfit is bad and that is the problem not the legs.

  4. From what I read on the facebook page of Vizyon they are just a fashion house showcasing designers from around the world. I am guessing this *is* 3.1 Philip.Lim after all…

I wish they had sent her a better pair of shoes as well!

    • Nop. The facebook page clearly says they collaborate with specific designers to create a collection. They do not house other designers. It isn’t a boutique store that sells different brands.

  5. It is a 3.1 Phillip Lim Sequin Jacket Dress from ss2010
totally!! as much as i love sonams style..the fact that everyones overdoing the whole sonam kapoor bit is annoying….it falls flat in a few months and then it gets sad:( Like shes on all the glossies..photoshoot, covers et all!

  6. This is a very unflattering look on Ms. Sonam. A rail thin model may have been able to pull it off, but Sonam is big-boned with a smaller face (I have a small face too, I feel you girl). She needs something that suits her shape better. Some heels would have helped a great deal.

    • OMG..

you are right ! Vizyon is a fashion house which brings together diff designers..it’s not a designer brand !! I don’t believe Sonam doesn’t know abt it.. :P

  7. Apparently Sonam can’t wear high heels (?seems to me thats the kind of thing that would affect a career in glamour…) but this dress def needed heels. Ergo, maybe she should have chosen a different dress?

  8. Her dress looks so mismatched with the black oxfords. I can imagine wearing a wedge boot, collar booties or shooties anything but those flats.

  9. if she’d drop the neckline to a much lower v-neck, then she wouldn’t look so matronly. ditto on her chubby knees – she needs more toning and lipo to carry off that length in flats. or not wear flats1

  10. Hey P&P,

Where did both of y’all find that Phillip Lim Dress? I searched it everywhere and no where can I see this dress in any Philip Lim collection!!

  11. I quite liked it..very quirky n playful in a broadwaysque way, makes sense considering she’s an actress. And I did’nt think she looks stumpy at all, she’s too tall for that, maybe it was teh angle of that particular pic.

  12. I checked Vizyon in google. Its a stockist not a brand by itself, I cant believe Sonam is so dumb? Or am I missing something here?

Also, there isn’t anything dumb about it. With so many designers in the market, it isn’t easy to always know who created what.

      • yea maybe.. but you girls always know who created what :) that truly amazes me….

I guess ‘dumb’ was a wrong word! But I though Sonam was quite good with fashion brands and all that :)

    • There’s nothing “dumb” about it. She just doesn’t know about it,that’s it. (I have no clue about Vizyon too) I am SO dumb, right?

  13. IMO, her legs are completely fine and healthy. She doesn’t have chicken legs and should be proud of that. For heaven’s sake poeple, she is not blessed in terms of weight. She has to struggle and was 100 kgs at one point. And she’s too tall to ever look stumpy. We all should stop setting these standards for all celebrities. When they are thin, we bash them. When they are fat,we bash them. And when they are totally normal and healthy(like Sonam),we bash them. It’s a lose-lose situation for them and sooo…they resort to surgery…and then we bash them again!
About her clothes, I really don’t like this dress…not just on her but it’s an ugly dress. Sequins can be done right but this is all wrong. And I don’t like the shoes as well.. :/
Make-up is bad but it could be the lighting…I really like the hair :)

  14. As I have said before Sonam’s problem is that she has bad posture. She slumps a lot like Michele Obama. I love Mrs. O but it takes away from the look of the outfit when the shoulders are hunched and the back appears bent. They both need to straighten their back and stand tall.

    Reply
    • But you do realize they are very tall people….they tend to slouch so that they don’t tower over the men…and everyone around them….it becomes a habit… hard to fix when you are almost always surrounded by people shorter than you!

  15. The chunky (?) legs comment is ridiculous. The shoes paired with the dress is an unflattering look, but her legs are not large, by any tandar. Lets stop setting unheathily thin standards for celeb women

  17. Okay, the stumpy legs comments gave me a good laugh.. Are you guys seeing what I’m seeing cause those legs are okay or has someone eaten aunty pills.. cause that’s how most grandmas/auntys are.. if you go fat you’re too fat, if you go skinny then you’re too skinny.. Nothing about your looks make them happy.

The whole look is interesting and I like this kind of bling but it’s not great.
