In Ilk

Sonam attended the Mid-Day bash wearing Ilk. Jewelry by Zariin (earrings) and Dhora (rings) and black accessories that included a Prada clutch finished out her look.

We find it hard to get on board with the draped skirt which aside from not being our cup of tea personally speaking, when combined with the top-half of her look felt a tad much. Maybe a more minimalist approach, and the skirt could’ve worked. But between those and the strong black accessories, the look isn’t one for the books. Our books that is!

To Sonam’s credit though, we can’t imagine anyone else pulling off the look the way she has/as much as she has.

  1. I love her shoes! And the shirt and jacket pairing is quite cute actually. She should have opted for a plain black pencil skirt. But it’s not a disastrous look. Make-up and hair isn’t so bad.

  2. Hahaha in the first two pics it looks like she is trying really hard to hide the drapey part of the skirt. Looks like she wasn’t onboard with the stylist this time round.

  3. What an hideously tacky outfit! I’m a sonam fan when it comes to her dressing, but sorry even she cannot pull this off! That shiny-shiny skirt is not helping, along with the cheap-polyester-saree print on the top and jacket. Terrible!

  4. Personally, I love it. It’s a refreshing change from the sheath dresses and uninspired styling that usually grace these pages. Sonam takes risk and isn’t that what fashion is all about?

  5. Reminds me of that one girl in school – who had relatives sending lots of imported clothes from Kuwait, but somehow they were so cheap-looking that they didn’t exactly look flattering.

  6. Okay, it’s definitely not one of her bests, she has done and can do way better. But that said, she doesn’t look half bad. She can take major risks and come off looking way better than most others would do. You can’t qualify as a true fashionista unless you take risks sometimes. You’ll never know what silhouettes, colors and cuts can actually look great on you if you don’t.

  7. To be honest, I think she looks great. My only major gripe is the style of the skirt, if it had been a regular maxi it might have looked a lot better.

  8. I cant imagine anything that could make that skirt work
I understand design and creativity but the draping where it is tucked in half way up is ridiculous
i can’t imagine what made her choose that skirt. Experimentation is fine and I appreciate her penchant for that – but this skirt is seriously RIDICULOUS

  9. Sonam is hardly a fashionista. She’s just a clothes horse who wears anything “new” so she can look as different as possible. Even this has become predictable and expected now.

Most of the time she resembles a 70 year old socialite from the Upper East Side. She could be wearing such fun, young clothes and enjoying her youth but apparently prefers looking like a kooky matriarch.

  10. No wonder, the styling is just perfect, except I find some problem with the skirt, which is not Sonam’s fault anyway. The plating on the skirt is a ‘wee’ odd :D
