In Jean Paul Gaultier

Sonam attended the Fashion Awards wearing a pinstripe double-breasted Jean Paul Gaultier suit. With her hair in a severe knot, Sonam finished out the look with a strong red lip, a vintage Givenchy necklace (from Viange), Chanel bag and to-die-for Alexander McQueen pumps.

The menswear inspired look works well on her; she looked great!

  1. Mehh the only thing I like are the pumps. The gold choker looks out of place and the pants are too short. Very underwhelming outfit.

    • True that. Plus that bag is fugly. Poor men, women can wear their clothes and inspired clothes but they would be never able to wear any of the women’s clothing. :P

  2. I have a lot of brands and I want to slap all of them together. Suit proportions are off, the Chanel bag is totally misplaced, choker unnecessary but then the kapoor sisters wouldn’t get a chance to talk about their newly acquired “vintage” piece right! Pumps are the only oomph piece but with the whole look such a disaster they loose value. With trying so hard to be avant- grade and androgynous this look is more wannabe than fashion.

  3. She looks great…But I think the fit of the blazer is a little off, especially from the waist…Also the blazer is too long…Love it otherwise…

  4. Wow she looks great! Honestly, the neckpiece doesn’t look out of place like many of you are saying. It adds some much needed glamour and femininity to an otherwise all masculine look. It also gives her a bit of an edge and ties the shoes and bag together. <3

  5. She looks nice – but I dont like how her clutch/purse is hanging and I think the necklace is unnecessary. So it is a Not Quite!! for me.

  6. Menswear is a great concept which I wore quite a bit, ahem, back in the day. However, something seems a tad off here. Perhaps this look isn’t right for her body type and hence ends up looking costume-y.

  7. Help…something is trying to strangle her! Time and again she has been an example that having expensive shiny objects and slapping them all together = fashion statement.

  8. I’m no fan of her but she does know her fashion, and manages to pull off almost anything. This is a great look, perfect from top to bottom. The people here who think her trousers her too short or that neckpiece is out of place clearly do not understand high fashion or style. Altogether too many of such folks throng HHC.

  11. This suit in a solid vibrant color (blue, specifically) would’ve been perfect! She still looks great though! One of her risks that paid off. Very Rihanna!

      • Sometimes the real life personality affects the critique of a celebrity’s looks, especially from a non-critic like me and especially when it comes to a self-declared fashion “icon” like Sonam. However, point noted.

  13. Hello! Just because you can afford high fashion clothes and accessories, that doesn’t mean you are a fashionista… that’s like rubbish. “You know what I mean??”
