Channeling one part ‘Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman’ and one part Streep from ‘Out Of Africa’, Sonam put in an appearance promoting her latest movie. I am all for an anti-establishment/non-conformist stance when it comes to largely (and falsely/commercially) propagated norms of feminine beauty but this was way too gimmicky even for me. In the same vein, maybe the actor can channel her inner Tilda Swinton next? Now that, I can get fully behind.
P.S. She is wearing A.W.A.K.E. Mode.

I adore this and the HHC commentary against Sonam seems weirdly biased. You guys seem to only praise illfitting safe outfits of big stars with questionable fashion but have it out for Sonam.
Can they ever win? I don’t get these types of baseless accusations. If someone can get the data trend and evidence to show a non-anecdotal or seeming bias, it’s worth posting. Otherwise on every post someone points out a different bias against a different celebrity, or if it goes against what they like they cry foul play.
After all those buy this bag here and buy this dress here links, even the description of this post making me feel am so so so middle class
My mother and I think Sonam looks very nice like our childhood hero and friend Shikari Shambu. It is good that she is borrowing jacket from Papa Anil also.
Reuse-refuse-don’t abuse. Life mantras for millennial generation to think off.
wow!! this is called “handling with kids glove” when something directly belongs to ‘what the hey’ category!!
Not sure gimmicky is the right word. I’m going with pretentious.
I will say though that if this was a somewhat fitted 3piece suit with pants instead of the shabby skirt, it might have actually worked.
Hmmm. Actually I don’t mind this at all. I like the vest and the cot. Pants am on the fence.
You mean the African Queen. Not Out of Africa- that’s Meryl Streep
Ironic – the pretentiousness of the post falls flat!!
They must mean Meryl because I she had an outfit like this in the movie. Or maybe they do mean Katherine since I haven’t seen African Queen
I got the leading ladies mixed up but the vibe holds true! (And yes, I did mean to reference Out of Africa.)
I actually love it
Have to say, girlfriend is totally pulling it off.
I think Pretentious is the word. Loving the commentary Priyanka :)
This commentry by HHC is so acerbic and not really neeeded. What do you mean by channeling Tilda- I do not understand the implications.
Thank you.
Hepburn or Meryl Streep?
The hairs done for an evening gown and the dress is of somebody working at a archeological project or at a huge library. This outfit fails only because of the fit, every piece is oversized.. and yeah so creased.
lol so apt
Hahaha perfect description! Had a good laugh
Many celebs in Bollywood always copy Hollywood celebs. Have your own identity, individuality. Why copy westerners all the time!
Loving her makeup here after a long time..
I actually like this. It looks interesting!
Tilda Swinton is way too radical and non-conformist even for the likes of Sonam Kapoor. Swinton’s fashion choices always seem to be an extension of her personality. Kapoor’s fashion risks (to a large extent) are gimmicky and pretentious.
I love this comment. So on point. Tilda dressing sensibility compliments her persona.
Sonam is playing dress up.
But I must admit I do LIKE this look on her!
Yeah. Sonam has girl next door looks. She can’t pull off every wild look out there.
ONE of these three items, maybe two (vest+ pants or coat + pants) could’ve worked, if well-fitted with better hair – a braid or a casual bun. This is a mess, and as you said, pretentious/gimmicky. What a pity, I quite like this type of aesthetic and I don’t like to see it mangled so badly.
Again. She looks beautiful. Dosh kaha h??
And… I don’t understand what you actually wanna say. She looks cute, that’s all!
