Sonam attended the inauguration of the World Diamond Conference in Delhi on Thursday that also had Russian President Putin and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in attendance.
For the event, she opted for an off shoulder Anamika Khanna Couture gown, one that she wore with a diamond necklace.
Yes, we love Anamika’s designs a lot but at first glance, this didn’t evoke the same reaction especially the top half. The make-up also felt dull here.
Much preferred her dinner look (see inside), also an Anamika off shoulder creation but an all-white one. I won’t comment on the makeup because we only have Instagram pics to go by for now.

Definately ! She is rocking her look after coming back from her “gone with the wind” theme party. And the all white one was for the “Aladdin” theme after party.
I prefer the world conference look, it is more well structure & defined.

I cant help commenting this. Notwithstanding the “fasionista” label, imho, Sonam falters at big stages like this and Cannes in both makeup and dress department. She is a gorgeous young lady and apt for fashionista title but the big moments where we expect spectacular she fizzles. Reminds me-sometimes simple and classic look is also fashionista-esque.
You really need to watch the video then. Nothing could be more spectacular then this on that stage.
Befitting the occasion & her role there as mistress of the ceremony, so to speak. It was great.
If Sonam is not good enough to represent, i wonder who could possibly rise to the occasion, lol. No one comes close, not even great fashinistas like Neha or Kangana, Anushka who have great personal style.

Was it a buy one get one offer? Both the gowns are bad. She makes it look even worse. What’s with her ghostly makeup always? Also agree with nisha b, she seems to be doing horror these days.

While I love the all white/cream outfit in theory, how do you lift your arm to wave or hail someone?
She probably has minions to do it for her.
Both outfits are overdesigned and have overcooked styling
Or perhaps they appear overdesigned because of the styling
Either Way I wish simplicity was a part of Sonams style vocabulary just for once
Oh and I can’t stand off shoulder because it feels so dated so the outfits had zero appeal
This is so OTT! You are attending an event that highest government dignitaries are a part of, why not wear something understated but elegant.

Somehow the pictures scream OSTRICH to me, not a good dress or look….
So many senseless mean comments, i just don´t get it. Since when would a corpse wear something like this? Because it is black? Or the shawl-like top? It looked very grand on stage, fitting for the serious occasion, yet glamourous at the same time.
There is one thing to not understand fashion, there is another to sound ridiculous by “criticizing” it! It is quite ironic, really
There are way too many over the top comments that have little to do with fashion here lately. Both outfits were beautifully done & she fulfilled her ambassador duties well!

The black gown does look like Scarlett O Hara’s widow costume and the white dress with its random gheras and bizarre Indian OTT necklace combo is even worse.
Adding to that are her raccoon eyes, terrible posture and staid, school marm-ish hairstyle.
Just because the people criticizing aren’t articulating their thoughts as well as they should, doesn’t mean their criticism is invalid.
As for a word like “mean” being applied to comments for Sonam- the Unapologetic Queen of Mean- its redundant. As you sow, so shall you reap, you know what I mean? :P
First outfit- someone stole a truckload of Victorian lace doilies :) to make an outfit !
This looks like a Victorian era Halloween costume to me! Ugh I need the old Sonam back. Off late she has failed miserably to wow me with any of her looks.
Forget about the dress, look at that choker!! ( with the white gown).
