Channeling Oprah?

You know when you shop online and some sites have that one category called ‘Mother Of The Bride’? That’s what Preity’s dress right here reminds me of. Add to that memories of Oprah from the Legend’s ball!

The lady is only in her early thirties yet she seems hell-bent on looking like she is way beyond that! Whatever happened to ‘Preity-The Style Icon’. Bring her back!

  3. yup it is grandmaish. its ironic how sooo many 40 yr olds are trying to dress like teenagers and on the other hand..here’s preity zinta doing exactly the opposite.
    her clutch looks interesting..

  4. Argh, to compare Priety with (ugh!) Oprah here. Preity looks fabulous, with the details on her skirt and the fabric of her shirt….and thank god she wore sandals and not boots here, so it wasnt too full. I Like!

  5. I SO AGREE!
If it was a shorter skirt, and she wore it with some interesting shoes (or something) she would have been just five
    she plaus it so safe

  6. Does anyone here think that events in Mumbai need to be held with a dress code??? A gownish dress to a premiere???? seriously???? even when its not your own film??? Why would you want to dress to the nines to attend a movie premiere unless you want to steal the leading lady’s thunder??? Preity’s lost it…

  7. ehhehe i thought it was lovely but that was when i only saw the top half of the photo.. the length is really wrong.. it would have looked much nicer if it were shorter.

  8. I think she looks really good. It’s just odd, half the time it’s like “ok she needs to dress older she’s in her thirties now she’s not a teenager” and half the time it’s “she’s only thirty something she should dress younger”. Why do you guys (just ppl in general I don’t mean P&P or anyone specifically) put so many restrictions on people and what they can wear based on age? I think if your body type suits it.. you should be able to wear it, as long as you also have the attitude for it. That’s my two part rule.. no age limits…BUT that being said you should change things up once in a while as well (if you have the body type and attitude to change it up) Preity looks very nice and sophisticated. I would hate if she dressed like this all the time.. just like I hate when Mary Kate/Ashley dress like old ladies all the time because they have the body type and ability to change it up.. does that make sense? In short I like how she looks here at this one event but would hate to see her wear something like this all the time.

  9. she is the one legitimate fashionista in the movie industry. i think she does a fab job of mixing it up- casual, dressy, party-wear…every which way. This dress does seem more suited for the Barack Obama Inaugural rather than a movie premier, but she carried it off well.
To someone else’s comment on why these actresses dress up in gown-y dresses for other actresses’ premieres- I think it’s a great trend that these women are putting thought and effort into their off-screen appearances. I think we really need a shot of glamour that the dressy women bring to the red carpet. I quite like the hollywood-isation of the red carpet.

  10. wait a min PnP…
preity looks fabulous. and since when has style been restricted to a certain age bracket? just because she is still in her thrities doesnt mean she has to wear short dresses all the time. and vice versa. P.S: rekha in jeans and a jacket in her 50s (maybe 60s)
Style is not only what u wear, it how u wear it.

in fact, her dress isnt matronly payal, your comments are!

  11. yes…its nice…cud have been nicer if it was a knee length pencil skirt.
also, i totally agree with someone else’s comment on hollywood-isation of bollywood red carpet…i rather like it. :)

  12. Both of them are “sophistication personified”. Little out of the place for a film premiere, more appropriate for a ball. But I am glad that the red-carpert premiers are “in” at Bollywood and the celebrities are upping their glamor quotient. Thank you!

  15. agree with mishal and jabina..that look would have been more than perfect if she had just worn a below the knee pencil skirt in black with black pumps. and a nice color popping clutch or something!

  16. to all those who think dressing decently means u are old and showing off your body means you are young, let me tell you that you can dress decenty and look young and I like how preity recently doing that becasue her boy friend comes from a conservative family and she shows you can be classy and chic without showing your tighs or boobs or back all the way down to your tail bone, sexyness is not showing your body off like a dozen heroin in bollywood are addicted to but to wear a dress that complimnets your body, you can be sexy in a man suit if you wear it right and yet you can look ugly with a satan night gown and high heel if you wear the wrong cut and color

  17. FABULOUS! I’d rather look classy and chic than trashy. If you carry something comfortable and well there’s no reason it has to have a age bar. I will have to disagree with you P n’ P, I’m 24 and WOULD dress like this only because it’s chic. If she wore whatever everyone else was wearing then that would be a problem, I applaud her for going a different route. It really depends on how you wear it, and in no way is her length of skirt “Mother of Bride’ish”.
