Doing Black

In theory, Shruti’s outfit should totally work except she goes a tad bit wrong in giving us the ‘black with a pop of color’ look. I totally would have loved this look if Shruti had worn an LBD instead of the separates. Not only are the separates unimpressive, I also don’t like that they are of different shades. As for the shoes, while I think there is way too many colors going on, at least they make the lacklustre skirt/blouse more interesting.

  1. There’s something nice about her, she seems the kinda girl who will remain pure before and after success, if it happens.

As far as the outfit goes, it’s allot of looks rolled in to one in my opinion, it’s not awful in terms of the separates being different colors, but not great either.. also it looks as if her aim was to have a uni-color outfit, so tha ‘s what gets to me with the look… and the shoes.. nah..

  2. u got to be kidding me… she looks goooooood.
For one, all black is kinda formal. This kinda makes the whole look casual…and the shoes are gorgeous!

  3. I think Shruti is one of those rare celebrities who does NOT have a wannabe look about her…She looks genuinely stylish and extremely classy. And ohh…she has great legs too…much better than the ones we see swathed in makeup…

  4. I am loving her in this. Agreed its not an out of the world outfit combo but she has such body language to carry the most unusual and boring dresses with elan. I love how she has presented herself so far.

  5. Once again I will have to disagree with you guys. She looks effortlessly chic, I think the multi-colour peep toe shoes are the right touch to break with the black. She has gorgeous skin and and a banging body!

  6. <3 the heels! gorgeous! she has a earthiness to her and at the same time ..a very angelic look…somewhat a mix between katrina and sonam K…and she does casual well too…not bad for a semi-formal do…she should lose the fringe or get it trimmed better…

  7. I think you are being too hard on her. She looks good and combining the shoes with all black works very well. Different shades of black is a fact of life life different shades of white and does not bother me at all.

  8. I agree with the others — I’m actually liking this look a lot! Those shoes are really nice and they would ONLY work with a black outfit .. adding that “pop of color”. I think Shruti looks really good!!

$90. I just bought the Yellow version. the turquoise does not look that great. thanks PnP.
as 4 shruti, i like her look and her resemblance to both Kamal Hasan and Sarika is remarkable! it’s like she got the best of both parents.

I don’t think they are so much as different shades of gray as they are different fabrics with the same color.

That aside, I do think she looks quite good.

  18. I really hate that shoe.. It’s fugly..

And I do have a problem with the way the skirt fits her(and the shirt too for that matter). She seems too skinny for the skirt.. It’s almost like a tennis skirt… functional but not pretty.. She seems to have lost some weight for her movie and these clothes look like they used to fit her before the weight loss..

  19. i think she really carries off the shoe well..it’s not something that i would personally wear but i like that she kept the rest of the outfit simple..and i don’t see what the problem is with her hair..i think the fringe suits her…

  20. i’m in agreement with many of the above commenters – her look is efforless, fun, chic and so very age-appropriate.

and how refreshing to see someone as young as she sit properly with legs crossed tightly. maybe that wasn’t conscious of her, but kudos nevertheless!
